Thiruvalla Temple in Alappuzha
Alappuzha is regarded as one of the most attractive regions of the state of Kerala in India, thanks to its exotic backwaters and diverse animal life this place features in almost all Kerala Holiday Packages. But perhaps, the most important feature of the region is the temples that are not just known in the state, but also all over the country.
One of the largest and most important temples here is the Thiruvalla Temple in Alappuzha (also known as the Sree Vallabha Temple), which is flocked by thousands of pilgrims each year, as it is revered by devotees.
Located at a distance of just a 3-kilometer drive from the Thiruvalla Railway Station, this shrine can easily be accessed from all parts of the state.
This temple was established in the pre-Christian era to honor Lord Vishnu. Its architecture shows the ancient Hindu style of planning and construction, with walls adorned with mural paintings that provide a glimpse into a plethora of religious doctrines that serve as the basis of Hinduism.
Aside from the architecture, another main attraction of this temple is the Kathakali performance, which is performed on its premises every evening. It is believed that the principal deity of the temple watches the show from His abode every time it is performed.
