Exploring Kuala Lumpur’s Top-Rated Tourist Attractions

It’s hard to think of Kuala Lumpur and not imagine the twin minarets of the Petronas Towers. It is the city’s symbol, after all. But Malaysia’s capital has more to offer than just its famous twins. We’ll take you on a journey around Kuala Lumpur through these top-rated tourist attractions:

Menara KL Tower

Petronas Towers maybe Kuala Lumpur’s most recognizable landmark, but another structure also rises above the city’s skyline. The Menara K Tower was built in 1994 and stands more than 421 meters tall.

Higher than the famous Petronas Towers, the tower offers the best views of the city through its viewing deck at 276 meters, which is 100 meters higher than Petronas Towers’ Skybridge. The tower is also home to Atmosphere 360, a unique revolving restaurant where you can enjoy good food with fantastic views of the city.

Batu Caves

Located about 11 kilometers north of Kuala Lumpur is Batu Caves, a 400 million-year-old limestone hill with three major caves and several smaller ones. It also houses the 100-year old temple with different statues and idols making it a landmark for Hinduism.

The largest among the three major caves in Batu is Cathedral Cave where several Hindu shrines are located under a 100-meter high arched ceiling. You can also find Museum Cave and Art Gallery Cave showcasing different Hindu paintings and statues.

Sunway Lagoon Theme Park

If you’re traveling with the family or just looking for a place to beat the heat of the city, Sunway Lagoon Theme Park is the place to be. Located 15 kilometers southwest of Kuala Lumpur, this 80-acre theme park has everything from a manmade river ride to several water slides.

It is also home to the largest manmade surf beach in the world and offers a lot of activities both in and out of the water. Some of Sunway Lagoon ‘s top attractions include a six-lane water slide called Congo Challenge, the FlowRider, the first surf simulator in the country and Little Zimbabwe that is an interactive water playground.

Jalan Alor

If there is one place in the city where you can sample authentic Malaysian food, it has to be Jalan Alor just behind Jalan Bukit Bintang. This place is buzzing with customers looking to eat good food after a day of exploring the city.

This road is filled with authentic Chinese restaurants and local hawker stalls where anything from barbecued meats to local desserts are served.

Of course, no Kuala Lumpur itinerary would be complete without admiring the sheer magnificence of the iconic Petronas Towers.

This stunning 88-story twin structure towers over Kuala Lumpur’s skyline and you actually get to experience what the views are like from the towers itself through a 58-meter long double-decker Sky Bridge at the 41st and 42nd floors, which is 175 meters above the ground.

There is so much more to discover in beautiful Kuala Lumpur. So, pack your bags and make sure that you include these top tourist attractions in your list of must-visits during your trip.

Kuala Lumpur has always been synonymous with the Petronas Towers, the tallest twin towers in the world up to this day. Towering over the city’s skyline at 452 meters tall, the twin 88-story buildings feature a tube in tube design invented by Fazlur Rahman Khan and it was designed by Cesar Pelli & Associates. The twin buildings are joined together at the 41st and 42nd floor by a double-decker 58-meter long Sky Bridge, which also serves as a viewing deck for tourists to enjoy sweeping vie...
