Itinerary

  • Arrive Cochin (35 Kms)

Cochin is known as the most cosmopolitan city of the beautiful state of Kerala in India and its financial capital. Once you arrive in the city, you will be met and greeted at the airport by a La Vacanza Travel representative and then transferred to your hotel.

Once you are all set, you will then embark on a sightseeing tour of the city, which covers some of the most famous attractions in Kerala, such as the Dutch Palace at Mattancherry, which is renowned for its wall murals that depict scenes from the Ramayana; the Jewish Synagogue at the heart of the Jew Town; the St. Francis Church, which is India’s oldest European church; the Santa Cruz Basilica, which was built in 1557; and the Chinese Fishing Nets, which are a huge attraction in Cochin especially when the sun is setting.

When the evening comes, you can end the day by witnessing the world-famous Kathakali dance at a local theatre, before you will be brought back to your hotel to spend the rest of the evening relaxing, resting or what not.

  • Cochin - Mararikulam (50 Kms)

After enjoying a leisurely breakfast at your hotel, you will then head to the calm and serene Marari Beach, which is located in Alleppey.

Once you arrive, you will check in to a resort in Mararikulam and then explore the wonders of nature of this unique, palm-fringed beach, as well as the fishing village situated nearby.

You also have the option to get a traditional Ayurveda massage to keep you rejuvenated from a day of exploration. You will then spend the night at the resort in Marari.

  • Mararikulam

During this day, you are free to relax at the resort or venture more into the village and interact with the locals.

You can try the local cuisine here, which mostly includes seafood specialties that come fresh from the fishermen’s nets around the beach. You will then spend the rest of the night at the resort in Marari.

  • Mararikulam - Kumarakom (30 Kms)

After a leisurely breakfast at Marari, you will be driven to Kumarakom, which is referred to as the land of lakes and lagoons. By the time you arrive, you will check in to a lakeside resort to relax.

Here, you will have the option to take an Ayurveda massage, visit to the bird sanctuary or a sunset cruise. To rest your head for the night, you will head back to the resort in Kumarakom.

  • Kumarakom

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at your hotel. This part of your itinerary will give you the freedom to relax and enjoy the magical world of lakes and lagoons in Kumarakom.

You can choose to visit the nearby town of Kottayam and see the famous churches of Valiya Palli and Cheriya Palli.

After exploring the place, you can then head back to the resort for an overnight stay in Kumarakom.

  • Kumarakom - Alleppey – Houseboat

After you had your leisurely breakfast and some free time at the resort in the morning, you will get on board a houseboat, locally known as kettuvallam, to embark on an overnight cruise to Alleppey through the mesmerizing backwaters, where lunch, snacks, evening tea and dinner are served on board.

Basically, the houseboat will travel until sunset to Alleppey where it anchors for the night.

Originally used to transport rice in the past, these houseboats are among the major attractions in Kerala today as a fantastic way to enjoy the splendid backwaters.

Their quaint design and languid grace adds another beautiful element to your cruise. They have fully equipped kitchens handled by experienced cooks to prepare authentic Keralan cuisine for you.

They also have well-furnished and air-conditioned rooms with attached bathrooms to ensure that you will have a good sleep for the night.

During this cruise, you will learn how the waterways of Kerala play a significant role in the region’s economy as they connect remote islands and villages to the mainland.

This will be an incredibly unique and unforgettable experience that you will have during your tour.

  • Alleppey – Houseboat - Kovalam (175 Kms)

Still on your houseboat, you will wake up to enjoy a traditional Kerala breakfast, while listening to the beautiful songs of the birds in the backwaters.

After an unforgettable cruise experience, you will then go ashore and driven south towards the world-famous beach destination of Kovalam. Along the way, you will have the option to stop at the Snake Temple at Mannarasala for a short visit. Upon arrival at Kovalam, you will check in to your resort.

Famous for its three adjacent crescent beaches, Kovalam has been flocked by tourists. Adding to the beauty of the place is a massive rocky promontory on the beach that creates calm waters that are ideal for swimming.

You will have a lot of leisure options here, which include sunbathing, herbal body toning massages, special cultural programs and catamaran cruises.

Remember that life on this beach, like in other Kerala beaches, starts late in the day and goes on well into the night. Overnight at your resort in Kovalam.

  • Kovalam – Day Excursion to Thiruvananthapuram (20 Kms)

After your breakfast at Kovalam, you will then head for sightseeing tour of the capital city of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram, which is highly accessible from the beach.

During this tour, you will be taken to several places of interest, including the Napier Museum, Sri Chitra Art Gallery, Padmanabhaswamy Temple and the Puthenmalike Palace Museum.

You are also given the option to have lunch at a city restaurant and shop for some antiques and souvenirs before returning to your resort in Kovalam for overnight stay.

  • Kovalam

This day will be spent fully having leisure time and relaxation at the Kovalam Beach

However, you are given the option to instead spend the day taking an excursion to Lands End (Kanyakumari), also known as Cape Comorin, which is 90 kilometers away from Kovalam.

For this trip, you can stop at the Wooden Palace of Padmanabhapuram that belongs to the Travancore Dynasty or have a quick visit to the famous Suchindram Temple that is dedicated to Lord Shiva.

You will have lunch at a local restaurant and take the ferry to the Vivekananda Rock Memorial. By the evening, you should be returning to Kovalam, where you will spend the rest of the night.

  • Departure from Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum)

This time, you will depart for the Thiruvananthapuram Airport, which will be a 30-minute drive, being assisted by a La Vacanza Travel representative.
