Itinerary

  • Arrival Cochin

A truly great holiday should start from your arrival to departure, so for your arrival in Cochin, you will be met by our La Vacanza Travel representative to assist you with your hotel transfer in this beautiful cosmopolitan city of Kerala.

When the evening comes, you will be given the chance to witness the world-famous Kathakali dance at a local theatre. After the show, you will then head back to your hotel to spend the rest of the night. Overnight in Cochin.

  • Cochin

After having a leisurely breakfast, you will then be taken to a sightseeing tour of the city that covers some of the most interesting places here, including the Dutch Palace at Mattancherry, which is renowned for its wall murals of which themes have been borrowed from the great Indian epics of the Ramayana and the Mahabharatha, as well as the legends and myths about the Hindu gods, particularly Guruvayurappan.

Some of the murals also depict scenarios from Kumarasambhavam and other works of Kalidasa, the great Sanskrit poet.

Other attractions included in the tour are the Jewish Synagogue at the center of the Jew Town; the St. Francis Church, which is the oldest European church in the country; the Santa Cruz Basilica, which dates back to 1557 and built by the Portuguese; and the giant Chinese fishing nets that are spectacular to see especially during sunsets.

After this tour, you can also visit the busy markets of the city for a great shopping experience, finding spices, curios, textiles and other souvenir items that you can bring home.

You will then head back to your hotel for an overnight stay.

  • Cochin - Kumarakom (80 Kms)

Wake up to a leisurely breakfast and then travel to the Land of Lakes and Lagoons—Kumarakom.

After you check in to your lakeside resort, you will be allowed some time to relax and then given some optional tours.

One of the options will be a visit to the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary, which is a favorite haunt for migratory birds, such as Siberian storks, darters, egrets, teals and herons. Your visit to this place will take you to lush acres of woodland where you can spot the migratory birds flocking in thousands.

Aside from migratory birds, you will also be able to get a glimpse of the native kingfishers ablazing in psychedelic colors and watch in delight the acrobatics of the paradise fly-catchers.

Other options that will be offered to you include a sunset cruise or Ayurveda massages. You will then spend the rest of the night at your resort in Kumarakom.

  • Kumarakom

This day will be fully spent at Kumarakom, relaxing and enjoying the magical world of its lakes and lagoons.

You will have the option to visit the nearby town of Kottayam, which is about 18 kilometers from the village, to see the famous churches of Valiya Palli and Cheriya Palli.

The Valiya Palli is a principal church in a diocese (bhadrasanam) by the Syrian orthodox patriarch of Malankara, while the Cheriya Palli is one of the oldest and most well-preserved churches in the state, which was constructed in 1579 with the European architectural style using galleries, cornices, pillars and pediments.

After your excursion, you will return to the resort for an overnight stay.

  • Kumarakom - Alleppey - Houseboat

After a leisurely breakfast at Kumarakom, you will spend some free time at the resort, and by noontime, you will get aboard a backwater houseboat, locally known as kettuvallam, to go on an unforgettable overnight cruise to Alleppey through the splendid backwaters of Kerala, which include lunch, snacks, evening tea and dinner, all of which served on board.

Basically, you will cruise until sunset when the boat anchors for the night at Alleppey.

Originally used to carry rice in the past, these uniquely designed backwater houseboats have become among the most important attractions in Kerala, offering a fascinating way to enjoy the beautiful backwaters in this part of India, with their design and languid grace adding to the beauty of your cruise.

They have fully equipped kitchens with experienced cooks to prepare authentic Kerala cuisine for you and even give you some fabulous cooking tips.

They also have private balconies with chairs for comfortable sightseeing and well-furnished, air-conditioned rooms with attached bathrooms to ensure a good night sleep throughout the night on board.

During the cruise, you will see the significance of the backwaters to the state, linking remote islands and villages to the mainland, and will have a uniquely wonderful experience of cruising that you will not find anywhere else in the world.

    Overnight in the Houseboat

This beautiful place will give you the opportunity to engage with the locals and learn the culture, considering that there is a fishing village nearby.

Once you arrive, you will then check in to your resort, before exploring the wonders of nature here.

In essence, this treatment can be important to get your body energized to ensure your tours will be enjoyable and worthwhile.

After a day of activities, you will spend the rest of the night at the resort in Marari.
