The Rocks

The Rocks

Taking its name from the rocky coast on Sydney Cove’s west side where convicts used to pitch their tents, The Rocks used to be the home of the Gadigal aboriginal people and later the site of the first European settlement in Australia.

Today, this area on Sydney Harbour has more than 100 heritage sites that tourists can explore to learn more about the evolution of the city throughout the years.

Cadman’s Cottage, the oldest surviving house in Sydney built-in 1816 is one of the most popular spots in The Rocks. The Rocks Discovery Museum is also a great place to learn more about how the area started as aboriginal land and how it transformed from being a convict slum to being one of the most popular tourist spots in Sydney.

Souvenir shops, art galleries, cafes, and restaurants also fill the area for tourists to enjoy. There are also several guided tours that range from aboriginal heritage walks to ghost excursions.

La Vacanza offers a wide range of tours to The Rocks and the other top attractions in Sydney. Get in touch with our team to know more about the tour packages that we offer and see which suits you best.
