St. Moritz
When you think about Switzerland, skiing is the first thing that usually comes to mind. And if you’re looking for the best place to enjoy skiing and snowboarding in the country, you only need to go to St. Moritz. Located in the beautiful Engadin valley, St. Moritz is one of Switzerland’s most popular ski resorts were the 2003 Skiing World Championships and the 1928 and 1948 Winter Olympics have been held.
The high alpine resort towers at 1,800 meters above sea level where it overlooks the Upper Engadine and the beautiful Lake St. Moritz. But aside from its slopes, St. Moritz also offers a wide range of attractions for tourists to enjoy all year round.
Lake St. Moritz is the town’s most famous attraction where a number of activities are held when the lake is frozen. It was in this lake that the first ice cricket tournament was held in 1988 and it has also hosted the “White Turf” horse races since 1907.
If you want to ski like a true Olympian, head to Piz Nair, the site of the 1984 Winter Olympics. And if you need to fill up after a tiring day at the slopes, head to Hanselmann, St. Moritz’s famous café where you can enjoy coffee, Swiss chocolates and a menu of hot meals.
