Stop At: Montmartre, 75018 Paris France

Iconic district in the north of Paris, Montmartre is nicknamed the “Village”. Famous for the great number of artists mainly painters who lived in its steep cobble-stone streets, Montmartre is currently one of the most visited areas in the City of Lights. This is why we offer to show you the real local side of Montmartre taking through the little local streets.

Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Moulin Rouge, 82 Boulevard de Clichy, 75018 Paris France

Our tour begins opposite a quintessential Parisian landmark: the Moulin Rouge windmill. We’ll start the climb up the hill, spotting the café where the film Amélie was shot and Van Gogh’s home as we go.

Our first stop will be at one of Paris’ best bakers, winner of many prestigious prizes for its bread and pastries. Here we will taste one of France’s most famous patisserie: a deliciously buttery croissant. Is there any better way to start your morning in Paris?

Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Le Mur des Je t'aime, Square Jehan Rictus, 75018 Paris France

After learning how to say “je t’aime” in 250 different languages and listening to the crazy legend about the first Parisian bishop, we’ll climb a few more stairs to discover one of Montmartre’s loveliest squares and the one-time home of Pablo Picasso. Hear the stories of struggle endured by many local artists here before they found fame and fortune.

Duration: 20 minutes

Stop At: Le Moulin de la Galette, 83 Rue Lepic, 75018 Paris, France

We’ll pass by one of the last remaining windmills in Paris, now totally privatised, then we’ll promenade down the “Champs-Élysées” of Montmartre, where we’ll see some of the most expensive houses in the capital. Your guide will then lead you through a totally secret passage that reveals not only one of the best views over Paris but also one of the cutest cobbled streets in the city!

Duration: 20 minutes

Stop At: Au Lapin Agile, 22 rue des Saules, 75018 Paris France

Next up are the famous vineyards of Montmartre. Almost on the top of the hill they overlook the suburbs of Paris and produce a surprisingly good red wine. Opposite the vineyard is the entrance to the famous Cabaret, Le Lapin Agile, where your guide will tell you the legend of Lolo, the painting donkey.

Duration: 15 minutes

Stop At: Basilique du Sacre-Coeur de Montmartre, 35 Rue du Chevalier-De-La-Barre, 75018 Paris France

Finally we’ll walk to the iconic Basilica Sacré-Coeur, where we’ll stop to admire a view of the church from a perspective that very few tourists know about, leading onto our grand finale of another stunning Paris panorama.

Before you go, don’t forget to pick your guide’s brains for the latest on what to see and do during your stay in Paris.

Our guide never showed up so we had to latch on to a guide who was suppose to carry on with a single family. I felt sorry for them. Vivian was good however. This is the second time in three tours with La Vacanza Travel that I have been stood up. The company has to overhaul their business practises. Scott Maynard, Vancouver, Canada.

Eli was amazing! 10/10 recommended. Very patient and knowledgeable! She took the time to explain everything while checking up on everyone in the group.

Vivine was a wonderful guide thru Montmartre. He is very knowledgeable about the artist community that has resided here through out the years. This is definitely a tour you want to take off the typical tourist tours out there. This was a lovely way to spend had the day.

Ellie was amazing in her admirable mastery of French Art and History and her knowledge and guidance through all the whereabouts of Montmartre, which by the way, also allowed us to get in close touch with French people and their culture. Highly recommended

The guide was very good and spoke English well and clear. The tour was really lovely, good pacing and choices of stops. But some stops were in busy areas and it was a little bit difficult to hear the guide. We felt that more attention could have been given to historical figures from the 19th century than modern pop culture (which is great too). For example, we passed the house of French composer Hector Berlioz but the guide didn't mention it at all...
