What an amazing place! Love the ambience. We, the Winnie the Pooh fan club were more than impressed. The chinese government is so liberal and the freedom of expression and speech is so amazingly bigly great. All of this criticism about the chinese government and the Tiannamon square incident a number of years ago is just anti chinese propaganda. Even the persecution of the Tibetans and Uigars is utter rubbish. I think that china is an amazingly amazingful Democraticful place.

I purchased Forbidden City tickets through Trip Advisor several weeks in advance of our visit, which was recommended. When we arrived at the site, there was a problem with our tickets. Thankfully we had an English-speaking guide with us or we would have never sorted it out and been able to enter. I had purchased 3 adult and 3 youth tickets, and we ended up having to pay for an additional half ticket there. I would recommend obtaining tickets through a tour company in Beijing.

We went twice to the Forbidden City - in mid- August and September. In September you have less crowds but the heat is still affecting you. Go early in the morning. From our experience there are very few tour guides who can tell interesting stories about the Places. It's better to get the audio set and explore the enormous ares by yourself. Good luck!!
