Mutianyu Great Wall, featured “graceful”, enjoy the best quality among all Wall sections, 80km north-east of Beijing. It is is encased by sprightly streams and lush greenery. Mutianyu Great Wall is older than Badaling Great Wall, it has 22 watchtowers, about one every kilometer. Built mainly with granite, it was opened to tourists on May Day in 1986, the second Great Wall site opened to tourists after BaDaLing. MuTianYu Great Wall passes through beautiful forested hills with streams.There is a cable car at Mutianyu to whisk you up onto the Great Wall.

Booked with La Vacanza Travel and using the driver Mr Guo. When booking this trip I was looking for a hotel pick-up, assistance buying the tickets for the wall, the chair lift and the toboggan, a good amount of time on the wall that suited me and a drop off at an attraction in Beijing rather than my hotel. This trip delivered everything! Plus the driver was amazing. Mr Guo swiftly navigated the crazy Beijing heavy traffic and got us to the wall nice and early. He was also able to park closer to the wall which meant that we didnt have to queue for the shuttle bus. He left the decision for the amount of time needed on the wall to us and after helping to buy all the tickets, he sent us on our way up on the chairlift to explore on our own. When we returned, he was exactly where he promised he would be at the right time with his car. This also meant that we didnt have to stand in a huge line for the shuttle bus back down to the car park. Finally he dropped us off outside the Birds Nest Stadium as promised so that we didnt have to ride the subway from our hotel. In summary, the trip was made very easy, convenient, time saving thanks to La Vacanza Travel and our lovely driver Mr Guo. Tips: Go as early as you can. Although this part of the wall doesnt get as packed as others, there are sections that are more photogenic than others and there will always be people there with the same idea as you. Get the chair lift / toboggan package. When you use the chair lift rather than the cable car, you can choose left or right and we decided on left towards the cable car station as it had the iconic picturesque images to photograph and although there were some steep sections, there were lots of resting tower stops and it wasnt as steep as turning right. Wear layers that you can remove as the day warms up and your climbing intensifies. I regretted not doing this as I wore jeans and a jumper due to the morning coolness in Beijing and expecting the mountains to be cooler - that was a mistake.

Mr. Ping is the best choice if you want to visite the wall! He pick us from our accommodation, gave us some historical information on the way, get the entry- & shuttlebus- & chairliftcards for us and brought us home! It was a fantastic day - more easy because of Mr.Pings help!

We arranged a layover tour to Mutianyu Great Wall wich Mr. Ping and it was perfect. He was waiting for me and my family in the airport and drove us in a comfortable van. Even he had bottles of water for the whole family. We arrived 70 minutes after leaving the airport and he managed to buy all the tickets recommending us the best views in the Great Wall. Also the best restaurants in the base. He waitied for us at the end and he was flexible to return to the airport at the time we wanted. Another important thing is that his english was perfect. I recomend Mr. Ping tours without any doubt.
