Longhua Temple and Pagoda
Located at the Xuhui District, Longhua Temple and Pagoda is the most majestic, oldest and largest among the Buddhist buildings in South Shanghai, particularly the lower reaches of the Yangtze River Delta. It is also one of Shanghai’s best-preserved temples.
The seven-story pagoda, on the other hand, is the only one on this side of China that existed before modern times.

It is also the home of the famed Longhua Bell Toll, which is regarded as one of the “Eight Sceneries of Shanghai”. The bronze bell weighs 3.3 tons and was cast in 1894.
The structure and architecture of the temple and pagoda will make your visit worthwhile. But if you really want to make memories, you should engage in temple activities and fair. Time your visit on New Year's Day or the Spring Festival for a rich and grand experience.
The Temple Fair that has been celebrated for over 300 years is held on the third lunar March.
