Ile aux Aigrettes Island is located just off the coast of the town of Mahebourg in Mauritius, covering an area of 25 hectares. It has been declared a site for nature conservation that is being protected by the Mauritian Wildlife Foundation.
Your tour to this island would usually take about 90 minutes including a boat trip with an expert guide. This will allow you to discover the place and enjoy the original Mauritian nature, seeing some animals and plants that are unique to this island country and are found nowhere else in the world, including the rare pink pigeon that are considered to be close to extinction for many years, the Mauritius kestrel, giant tortoises and the endangered skinks.
You will also be able to see the breath-taking scenery of the southeast of the country and will be given a glimpse of the country’s early history. As for the greeneries, you will get to see some beautiful trees with strange names, such as the pipe wood, ox wood, bottle palm, and rat wood, not to mention that you will be able to see a rare orchid blooming in full.
