Underwater World Langkawi
It is the largest aquarium in all of Malaysia and one of the best-known attractions on the island of Langkawi. Underwater World Langkawi covers about six acres of land and is home to more than 200 species of marine and freshwater animals including sharks, rockhopper penguins, harbor seals and the largest freshwater fish in the world, the Amazonian arapaima.
The park is divided into three areas—the Temperate, Sub-Antarctic and Tropical Rainforest. Its most popular area is the Sub- the Antarctic where visitors can get up close with rockhopper and black-footed penguins in “penguinariums.”
It also boasts of a six million liter underwater tank where guests can enjoy walking through the tunnel while enjoying views of different fishes, green turtles, sharks, and giant stingrays.
Underwater World Langkawi also has an Educational Resource Center and a 3D theater where tourists can enjoy a short movie about a prehistoric fish called Michael in his journey before becoming a fossil.
