Walking in Zermatt's Twin Tombs – the cemetery of the climbers in the gardens of Zermatt's St. Mauritius Church and the main cemetery across the street – is a miserable experience. Numerous graves tell of the untimely deaths of Monte Rosa, Matterhorn and Brethron.

Walk from Zermatt along the river to this spectacular gorge is a 1.5 km walk carved out of green Serpentinite rock and accessed via a series of wooden stairs and walkways. Taking a visit to Gornerschlucht is a good choise for the family.
