The best thing I can say about Windsor Castle is that my wife and I are planing on going back to England mostly to spend a weekend in Windsor & visit the castle. It’s like Disneyland for royal watchers. Sure you could spend one day there. But you’d for sure feel like you missed out.

I’m sure this would have been a great tour. Unfortunately I broke my wrist the previous day and we weren’t able to make it to Windsor. Had the accident happened an hour earlier I would have been able to cancel my tickets. So disappointed we couldn’t visit and sad I couldn't get a refund. :(

When we arrived at location we spoke to a member of staff who advised us which queue to get in. Easy check in and well organised security procedures. We were left to tour by ourselves and this was straight forward with the one way system. We were able to visit all areas that we wanted to view. Loads of gift shops. So much easier that you wasn't able to take pictures inside as this seemed to help people move around quickly and easy. We will definitely visit again.

Having “done” Buckingham Palace, we decided to also visit here, particularly to pay our respects to the late Queen. We visited on a bright sunny Saturday and expected it to be busy. The guards change at 11am and after asking a steward we rushed through security to see the ceremony inside. It was good to see, albeit viewing through the many mobile phones held aloft by people who paid good money to ignore it in reality and possibly watch it on their phone later. Why do people do that ?. I’ve really no idea. The entire castle is incredible with not a blade of grass out of place on the lawns. St George’s chapel is humbling and we were able to pause when passing her majesty’s tomb while the constant line of visitors came through. We went through the state apartments wondering in disbelief at the spellbinding decor, and a tip would be to look up as well as around you. The ceilings are incredible. Despite it being busy it never really felt cramped and aside from a few foreign queue jumpers it was an enjoyable experience. Couple of pointers though…. In my opinion, there are not enough toilets, so be warned if you think you may need one. We found a very small gents but never saw a ladies. Places to eat and drink are few. We found a small coffee, soft drink and ice cream stall as you leave the apartments with some outdoor seating. Unfortunately it was poorly staffed. The barista stood next to her coffee machine doing very little as orders were firstly taken by the overworked, friendly yet ineffective guy behind the stall. He had a queue which hardly moved. I had 4 people ahead of me and it took over 15 minutes to get served. Later it grew enormously while the barista still stood doing little as most visitors wanted soft drinks or ice cream. We later discovered there is a cafe in the undercroft - never found it !. One disappointment was not to be able to see the long walk. You do get a glimpse as you go through the apartments but the only way to see it properly is to take the walk around the outside. Great visit though, humbling in places and in our opinion better than Buckingham Palace.

Our final day in London was finished with a visit ti Windsor Castle. Absolutely stunning and a day that will be forever a highlight. The displays, audio guide, staff, everything and everyone was amazing and we could not fault anything. An absolute credit to the Royal Trust and the true reflection of history.
