Feeling a bit ripped off to be honest. Firstly be aware that you will have to pay £6 for parking on top of your admission and any other activities that you've paid for (but that was half expected to be honest and we could have checked before hand so not grumbling too much about that). But the castle itself just felt dead when we got inside. It felt like you can only see a tiny portion of the inside of the castle and the temperature was really cold outside and there was nothing to do but amble around. The trebuchet wasn't operating, there was nothing to entertain in the way of knights archers, actors etc...which I was expecting. The Christmas Market was tiny and over priced, the only seating available were all out doors and soaking wet (nowhere to eat lunch). We had brought tickets for the light show but cut our loss and just went back home instead of trying to kill hours in the freezing cold with kids in tow.

Visited on Sunday for the stories with santa which was brilliantly done and making your own toy with the elves was a great idea, My niece and her friend said they had the best day ever, from seeing santa and Mrs claus to the Princess Tower and the horrible history maze which was one of my favourites, it was lovely and christmassy and ice skating was a bug hit with us all especially as it started to snow when we were on the ice which just added to the atmosphere. I know it can be quite expensive as we were a group of 8 so maybe next time with a ticket it could include a free hot drink or mince pie and a cookie for children just to make it feel value for money as days out can be expensive for added extras. But we loved it and the decorations in the hall were amazing from the Christmas trees to the garlands and such friendly staff. Always love coming here.

We visited Warwick castle for the castle, light trail and ice skating. To start it was not very clear on the website that you had to visit the castle before 5pm as we had booked ice skating for 5:15. Some of the areas of the castle were closed when we got there leaving a very limited amount to see. The market stalls were ridiculously overpriced with a hot chocolate £3.50 or £5 with marshmallows and cream and it was only a add water drink so not sure why the prices were so high. Also there was not many seating areas and none of the seating had covers over, and as it was snowing all the seats were covered in snow so nobody could sit down. Ice skating was great and we really enjoyed it. The light trail was okay.. i mean for £16 i expected a lot more so i was a bit disappointed when it took about 30 mins in total. Another added bonus was the £6 parking charge, there is no option for 1/2 day parking or buy hour so you have to pay the full day fee even tho we were only there for 2 and a half hours. In total for 2 and a half hours it cost £90 for 2 people in total so i don’t think i could recommend just based on what you get for the money.

From previous visits the highlights outside the castle itself have been the trebuchet, the falconry, the archery, and the knights battling it out. It was a disappointing shame that all of these were unavailable today. You can’t even get close to the trebuchet. The birds are nowhere to be seen. No nights in armour. No bowmen anywhere to be seen. No have a go at archery. Instead there was a dungeon (£40 extra) and a person in a goofy dragon suit for kids. Granted the website does state the knights are a summer affair but the birds and bowmen are listed and there’s no mention that the Trebuchet is out of action and you can’t even get near it. If so many things are not available they should really be listed on the site as such! Place looked like a job-site too as things were being set up for Xmas (why do that during a weekend). The maze is good and the castle is naturally great saving this from a one star review. Seeking refund.

There is a lot to like when you get inside but they charged £22 per person as we booked online on the day of our visit instead of £16 - a 40% increase for no other reason. Then we paid the full £10 parking fee even tough my mum had a Blue Badge. We felt ripped off and it soured our visit.
