Overview

You’ll set off on a jaunt around Chinatown where you’ll find some of the best street food in Singapore. Aside from the Chinatown Food Complex, where you can taste Michelin starred street food, you’ll find such delights as poh piah (fresh spring roll) and chwee kueh (water rice cake). Maybe it’ll be the food which lulls you into a coma, or maybe it’s the swaying lanterns and billowing smoke screens, who can say. From here, you’ll walk to a traditional wet market where you can see live seafood and try to decipher all manner of ingredients.
Within 24 hours after booking you'll receive a short questionnaire about your personality and interests. Based on your responses, you'll be assigned a like-minded host. Your host will communicate with you directly to suggest an itinerary to help you discover what makes the city unique. You will also agree on a meeting time and place. Your itinerary is flexible, so during the experience, you can always change your mind about what you want to do.

In guide’s defence he was only assigned our excursion 12 hours before start due to 2 prior guides cancelling. We had completed questionnaires with prior guides but that information never passed to him so it wasn’t organized. Aaron was very helpful and friendly but not very knowledgeable to what tour was to include. Management is what at issue and not guide. We felt we missed key tourist spots due to this. Would suggest doing tour in larger group than just a couple.

Our Guide, ST, was amazing. He took us to places we would never have found on this own. He was knowledgeable about the history, culture and architecture of the places we visited. The food he selected for us in the hawker markets was excellent. Best of all, ST was a really nice guy. We hated to leave him.

My food tour with Robyn was fantastic! She was early and waiting for me at our meeting point. She sent me a WhatsApp message with her picture so I knew who she was when I arrived. She asked if I would be willing to try some hawker centers outside of the more popular areas. let her know that I am an adventurous eater and that I always prefer to visit places visited by locals and off the beaten path. We then visited the Chinatown Hawker Centre and enjoyed some chicken rice from the Chinatown Chicken Rice Stall. Robyn orders the roasted and steamed chicken options along with some blanched greens and chili sauce. (Delicious). Many of the stalls were closed due to Chinese New Year, but the hawker Centre was still crowded and buzzing. We hopped on the subway to go to a housing estate hawker center in the suburb of Geylang Bahru. We enjoyed some dishes from Robyn’s favorite stalls including pork satay (peanut sauce was amazing!) and BBQ from the Soon Lee Heng Satay stand where they grill over an open flame. We also enjoyed BBQ Stingray (a first for me) from Ole Sambal Spice- the texture was similar to skate and the Sambal was flavorful and spicy. We finished with a coconut ice dessert with jellies and red beans. It reminded me of my childhood visits to Singapore. The vibe at the hawker center was so chill and we had a nice breeze on a very hot and sticky day. I would highly recommend a food tour with Robyn. She was friendly and knowledgeable!
