Near the shore, the waves are swimmable during calmer tides with crystal-clear waters, hence its name. Divers praise the superb visibility, sometimes down to 30 metres. Stop At: Manta Bay Snorkeling Nusa Penida, 8F6C+VQX, Nusa Penida, Bali 80771, Indonesia

Manta Point Snorkeling is so named as it’s one of the main dive sites in Bali where you can spot manta rays. These graceful rays are visible on almost every dives, along with spotted stingrays and nurse sharks. You can dive here all year round, however, the best time to go is usually between August and October, when visibility can be an excellent 20 metres deep. Most trips depart from the dive resorts on Nusa Lembongan, or from the coasts of Sanur and Padang Bai on the Bali mainland. The waters around Manta Point can get fairly cold, due to the open currents from the Indian Ocean. However, visibilty is often excellent here, allowing you to better explore and photograph the prolific marine life under the surface. Other sights to see here include occasional sea turtles, reef sharks, and the oceanic sunfish ormola-mola. At around 10 metres within the protected bay, mantas freely roam and feed in the plankton-rich waters while enjoying the symbiotic company of cleaner wrasses who rid their bodies of parasites.

Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Angel's Billabong, Banjar Sumpang, Desa Bunga Mekar, Sakti 80771 Indonesia

Angel's Billabong located nearby Pasih Uug (Broken Beach), another popular site with unique limestone formations. The naturally formed rock lagoon offers a scenic seascape. You can descend into its crystal-clear rock pools for a swim or a soak, but only during low tide. The rock pools are one of the must-sees for visitors to Nusa Penida. The island itself is famous for its beautiful cliffs and pristine coastlines. Both Angel's Billabong and Broken Beach are very popular sites here. However, you’ll most likely have this amazing natural infinity pool all to yourself on your visit. It’s a good idea to explore Broken Beach first nearby. Take in the splendour of its natural limestone arches over the blue waters. Then, head off to take a dip and perhaps a swim in the natural pools of Angel’s Billabong.

Duration: 40 minutes

Stop At: Pasih Uug Beach, Bunga Mekar, 80771 Indonesia

Broken Beach spot is marked by a hilly arch-like rock formation, which is the distinguishable landmark of the area. Set over the crashing waves of the open Indian Ocean, Broken Beach is a great spot for travel photographers and panoramic view seekers. The adjacent area is also home to grey long-tailed macaques. If you’re lucky, you may spot silhouettes of giant mantas near the surface of the deep blue water.

Duration: 40 minutes

Stop At: Paluang Cliff, Bunga Mekar, Nusa Penida, Klungkung Regency, Bali 80771, Indonesia

In Kelingking Beach you can enjoy the sweeping views from a purpose-built platform, which is bordered by bamboo fences. If you dare the challenging trek down to the beach, make sure it’s during low tide. Some sections of the path can be steep, requiring a bit of rock climbing, especially on the way back up. Locals have put rocks and bamboos to aid visitors over the years. Once you’ve reached the sand, you’ll have it all to yourself most of the time. Depending on tide conditions, the waters are swimmable. However, note that the undercurrents can be strong, and being the remote site that it is, there are no lifeguards around. Besides your camera and a good pair of shoes, be sure to bring drinking water with you on the descent, to keep you hydrated. You can combine your visit to Kelingking Beach with a visit to an interesting temple nearby. Pura Paluang Temple is a couple of minutes’ ride east by motorbike, and features shrines in the shape of cars!

Fun and well organised day trip. Highlights: *Saw dolphins swimming alongside our boat when snorkelling *Snorkelling with a turtle *As it's a private tour of the island, we could chose which beaches we wanted to see and how long to stay for (within a reasonable limit - last boats back to Bali leave at 5pm) *The drivers were very friendly and helpful. Agus who drove us from the hotel to the port, and back in the evening, was especially helpful in explaining how the day would go, what to do, helped with bags etc. Thanks Agus!

Very well organised, flexible and friendly staff. We had Robert as a tour guide in Nusa Penida he explained a lot about the island and took us to the most beautiful spots. On top his car playlist was great! Would definitely recommend this tour.

At the beginning of the tour, we were greeted by the friendliest driver Agus. Overall, this was a wonderful tour that let us explore the beauty of land and sea of Nusa Penida! The guide was very nice and helped us take a lot of pictures. We had lunch at a local restaurant and the food was delicious. The tour was really worth the money and I really recommend it to anyone.

We booked via Eco Bali Tours but the tour was provided by Sari Nusa Penida Tours as I assume Eco Bali is just an agent. We had two drivers, Agus, who picked us up from our hotel in Ubud to take us to Sanur Harbour, and Putu, who drove us around on Nusa Penida. Both drivers were very polite, courteous and punctual. Putu went the extra mile to take great photos while we were at the view points on Nusa Penida so thanks for that! The roads there are awful too and riddled with potholes, but Putu did a great job navigating us safely. The snorkelling tour was probably the best bit as we saw quite a few cool fish and corals (but no turtles and mantas unfortunately!). The rest of the tour was mostly driving to a few viewpoints but gave us the opportunity to take some great photos. Overall a great day so thanks guys!
