The tour begins with performance of a village chief and villagers challenging the strangers coming to their village. Then you walk through the village where you see the people living their lives, playing games. You end up in a room where singing and dancing performance happens, including haka performance. The dinner comes as a fine dining experience served as buffet at the middle of the table where you sit at with few fellow travelers. The alcoholic drinks are not included in price, but coffee and tea are - those are served in Victorian tea cups. Really interesting. What I minded a bit is that it's not clear what to expect form the tour before you actually experience it. You see a lot of ads about how the tour is great, but no more information about what exactly to expect. Maybe it's on purpose, but I didn't exactly know what I'm buying. The tour is surely not cheap, but I would still recommend it, as it's really just interesting. Book your tickets in advance - the tickets might be booked out, as it happened to me and my boyfriend. We needed to alter our plans a bit to experience this performance.

We had a great experience at the Te Pa Tu. We were greeted a traditional Haka and greeting. Then we went to stations where they demonstrated different cultural traditions and had the audience participate. We learned a lot about the Mauri culture. The food was fantastic. We felt welcomed and everyone was friendly. We felt a part of their family. i would highly recommend going if you are in the Rotura area.

Amazing opportunity to be invited to learn more about Maori culture. The performances were amazing! Food was delicious - they’re conscious about food allergies- just make sure to confirm with each dish as it comes out!
