Overview

This tour is for visitors to the Isle of Man who would like a day out seeing as much as possible. Due to time constraints we do not go into sites other than outdoor heritage sites which have no entry charges. Most of the sites can be self guided although I am quite willing to guide in them.

I am a qualified blue badge guide with an operators licence to drive visitors around the island, fully insured with public liability.

Although a set tour has been set up I am quite happy to adjust the tour to suit the visitors needs.

We visited Scotland, Ireland and IOM on our visit to the UK. Our full day tour with Jane was nothing short of fantastic. The late October visit coincided with torrential rainstorms in Scotland and IOM. Jane picked us up on time and said she was surprised we didn't reschedule due to weather. We said we were in it to win it and we were still ready to see the island, umbrellas and rainboots ready. Jane was just as game and we headed out for an unforgettable day on the island. The wind was whipping at 60+ miles an hour and Jane willingly drove us up the cliffs to see what we could see. The views were stunning, even as the winds were knocking us off our feet and we marveled at the sheep who seemed completely unbothered. Jane took us everywhere as prior planned, we still climbed up to the top of the Laxey wheel and popped inside the dripping mine, wearing the much needed hardhats. She allowed us to stop and take as many pictures as we wanted, even as we came back to her car wet and dripping every time. We stopped in a teeny, tiny coffee shop, complete with a cozy cat sleeping in a box, overlooking the roaring sea for a mid-morning break. Lunch overlooked the massively churning sea and we were elbow to elbow with the locals (it was yummy, too!). We rode along the streets where the TT races occur. We saw King Orry's gravesite (4000-5000 yo), Tynwald, churches, graveyards, sheep, the only thing we missed was seeing a real Manx cat. :) She told us fascinating stories about Man and what it might have been like back when my grandmother lived in Douglas. She was a delightful tour guide and as we consider a return visit to the UK this year, a revisit to IOM is on the table, as we'd love to see this lovely island again and tour everything we didn't see this time - and of course it would be with Jane!

This was a magical tour that let us explore all parts of this mystical and wondrous island. We highly recommend Jane, our tour guide, who led us to these beautiful places. She seemed to know everyone, has a lot of experience on the Isle, and made sure to make this an unforgettable experience. This private tour is highly recommended over group tours because you can see and do so much more...It's hard to put into words how much more you get. It's worth every penny. The Isle of Man quickly became one of my favorite places I've visited (been to over 50 countries), and I look forward to spending much more time here.

This tour with John Shakespeare was well worth the money! He is very knowledgeable and personable and showed us some great stuff along the way. I would highly recommend this for anyone who wants to know more about the local area and its extensive history.

Our guide Jane took us to all the iconic corners of the island so we could feel its beauty and a long captivating history. She is a real connoisseur of all aspects of life of her native land and her presentation was easy and informative. With no doubt I highly recommend Jane to be your guide and assistant while you are visiting Isle of Man.
