Stop At: Le Jardin de Versailles, Place D'armes A l'Ouest du Château de Versailles, 78000, Versailles France

Our expert tour guide will enable you to see the best part of the Gardens.
In 1661, Louis XIV charged André Le Nôtre to create the gardens of Versailles. The creation of gardens requires a gigantic work about forty years: leveling spaces, landscaping garden beds, creation of ponds and the Canal. Louis XIV considered gardens as
important as the castle. André Le Nôtre created an ultimate French Style garden: a terrace with a global view of the gardens, a geometric organization of the axes, ponds, flowerbeds, groves. The garden is designed like a building, a walk playing on the perspectives. Charles Le Brun drew a large number of statues and fountains. The 221 sculptures make Versailles as the world's largest open-air museum of sculptures. Fountains and groves adorn the gardens. The groves regularly hosted the King's walk and the entertainment of the court. Appreciate a stroll trough the Le Nôtre's gardens.

Each summer, Versailles offers superb entertainment in the gardens to give visitors the experience of the magnificence of the celebrations in the garden at the time of Louis XIV.
Your guide will offer you a visit to the musical gardens (Tuesday from June to October) and the musical fountains show (Saturdays and Sundays from April to October).

Stop At: The Trianons & The Hamlet, Chateau de Versailles, 78000, Versailles France

The Petit Trianon
In 1758, Louis XV plans the construction of a new small castle. He orders Ange-Jacques Gabriel, a royal pavilion to house the intimacy of his favor Madame de Pompadour. The Petit Trianon is a true emblem of Neo-classical architecture. At the death of Louis XV, Louis XVI offer it to his young wife, Marie Antoinette. She changes the botanical garden of Louis XV by an sumptuous Anglo-Chinese garden.

A visit to the Petit Trianon is a moving immersion in the daily life of Marie Antoinette, a deeply human Queen. Often accused of frivolity, it would end tragically during the French Revolution. Approach the personality of this historical figure, famous for her beauty, her modernity and her sumptuous entertainment. Enjoy the gardens to discover the Temple of Love and Belvedere, dear to the Queen.

The Grand Trianon is a unique building, with its central loggia which ensures a real transparency between the courtyard and the gardens. In 1687, Louis XIV ordered the construction of a "small palace of pink marble and porphyritic with gorgeous gardens", according to the architect Jules Hardouin-Mansart. The castle is then called "Marble Trianon". This pink marble building subtly combines sumptuousness and intimacy. Many original sculptured decorations are visible in the apartments, as well as a magnificent Empire furniture. The Grand Trianon is surrounded by French Style Gardens whose countless flowers and groves contribute to creating a relaxing atmosphere.

The Queen's Hamlet, built between 1783 and 1786 by Richard Mique, coincides with the taste of the time for the charms of rural life. This small village "as in the countryside" had houses made either for the simple entertainment like the billiard room, or for a real agricultural function as the dairies or the farm. It served as a private meeting place for the Queen and her closest friends, a place of leisure.

I booked a full day tour of Versailles with my daughter and it was just perfect. I had many questions through email prior to our outing and they were always answered in a timely manner. They were always there to help. Our morning started out with a very nice Mercedes van picking us up and taking us to Versailles to meet our wonderful guide, Anna. Anna was very knowledgeable on every aspect of Versailles. My daughter and I learned so much and had the most magnificent time with Anna. If we had done this tour alone we would have been amazed still, but doing it with a guide makes a world of difference. There were so many details and things we would have never known if we didn’t have Anna. When the day was over our driver was right there ready to take us back to our hotel. It was a wonderful experience. I highly recommend this company, they were top notch and did everything with ease and class. What an incredible experience!!!

Our driver picked us up at our hotel and we arrived in front of the Palace just on time. We were informed tha due to the transportation workers strike the opening of the site was moved back until 10:00. Great communication! Our guide Anna arrived shortly after we did and, seeing that the gates weren't open yet, took us over the Royal Stables where, as luck would have it, there were several horses working out. Anna gave us an overview of the day and off we went. Now, there was a large group from an asian school and Anna wanted to make sure we had priority entrance. Once inside she told us that she really admired "Lulu" (her nickname for Louis XIV) and all through the tour gave us great information about the palace, life there, some of the intrigue, etc. When we got to the Hall of Mirrors it was practically empty and Anna said she had to take a picture because her colleagues would never believe her as the crowds were usually incredible. We walked outside through the gardens on the way to the Petit Trianon, stopping for lunch on the way. Because PT is small it didn't take a lot of time to see but it was interesting none the less. Then we walked to the Queen's Hamlet - an unexpected and overlooked area of the Estate. The site still has animals living there and products raised on the Hamlet's farm are sold to local restaurants. Anna made the whole day fly by. She is a great story teller and so knowledgeable about the site. It was such an awesome day! Highly recommended (and ask for Anna!)

Today we did the private Versailles full-day including Trianon with local guide Joanna. She was very knowledgeable, both in terms of the history and also the logistics of visiting Versailles. She was able to immediately connect with each member of our group, adults and teenagers alike, which made us all feel comfortable asking her questions and honestly like we were among friends. She was clearly focused on and attentive to our needs. She truly made the experience worthwhile for us. We highly recommend her services!
