Itinerary
This is a typical itinerary for this product

Stop At: Palace of Versailles, Place d'Armes, 78000, Versailles France

The Palace of Versailles in true royal fashion. As your guide shows you around a carefully curated selection of the palace’s 700 rooms, you’ll hear stories of the Sun King, Louis XIV, his successors, their queens, mistresses, and courtiers – including Marie Antoinette and other notable figures. Versailles had its heyday in the 17th and 18th centuries, when the Sun King elevated Louis XIII’s humble hunting lodge into the official seat of the French court – and 300 years later, the palace has lost little of its glamorous excess.

Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: The Hall of Mirrors, Chateau de Versailles, 78000, Versailles France

Visit the breathtaking Hall of Mirrors inside Versailles while our passionate English-speaking guide marvels you with stories of the excesses of royal life, peaking under the Sun King, Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette.

Duration: 5 minutes

Stop At: The Royal Chapel, Inside the Chateau Chateau de Versailles, 78000, Versailles France

Visit the opulent Royal Chapel during your tour of the Palace of Versailles.

Duration: 5 minutes

Stop At: Le Jardin de Versailles, Place D'armes A l'Ouest du Château de Versailles, 78000, Versailles France

The Gardens of the Palace of Versailles were designed by master gardener André Le Nôtre and court painter Charles le Brun, not as a respite from the palace, but as an extension of it – with every bit as much opulence (and intrigue) as the interior. Depending on the day, your tour of the Gardens may include the Musical Fountain Show (where fountains dance in perfect time to classical music) or Musical Gardens (where music accompanies your tour through the idyllic glades).

Our guide’s name was Alex and he was excellent, very knowledgeable, witty, and got us through the crowds without an issue. Our group was small with six people and they were also pleasant. I thought we were going to ride from the meeting point to Versailles in a small coach bus but they stopped that with COVID. Instead we took the train, which worked out well because it gave us more confidence to use the train to get to other destinations throughout Paris. If I did the tour again, I’d probably do the morning timeframe. We did the afternoon tour which met at 1:30pm (13:30) and actually entered Versailles at 3pm (15:00). So, we had two hours to go through all of the rooms. I felt like this was enough time but by the time we arrived at the gardens, it was dark and cold. We just took a few pictures of the palace at night, which was cool, and pictures of the grand fountains and parks. Again, I would probably do the earlier tour but then again it wouldn’t have been more crowded. Overall, it was a great day and learning the stories and history of Versailles is an unforgettable experience. Enjoy!!

Very historical place. Wonderful to walk thru the palace and soak in the history but This tour takes you in the local train. There is no tour bus. So not value for you money at all. The tour guide is very knowledgeable though. And very helpful . It was not her fault that the tour company did not provide good transportation

The Versailles tour was one of the best tours I have ever taken - largely due to our guide Maxim. Maxim appeared to be a born teacher, storyteller and orator. He began the tour by setting the cultural and political background of Europe and wove that into the 17th century political landscape in France. From there he went into Louis XIIIV political ambitions, his personality and his diverse methods of achieving his political end by consolidating his power in Europe. He then wove all that information into his explanation of the architectural plant, physical use and symbolism of the tapestries and art in Versailles. The most amazing part is that he was also very entertaining and the tour was not just fascinating but also highly enjoyable. At the end of the tour, one had an excellent understanding not just of the opulence and physical structure of Versailles, but also of Louis 14th personality and his goals in the design and building of such a structure.
