Stop At: Pere-Lachaise Cemetery, 8 Boulevard de Menilmontant, 75020 Paris France

Your rendez-vous with Paris’ famous dead begins in the morning at Alexandre Dumas metro station. Meet your english-speaking guide and stroll into Père Lachaise Cemetery, the city’s most visited graveyard. Spanning 110 acres (44 hectares), this cemetery houses hundreds of thousands of the city’s famous and infamous dead in tombs of varying extravagance.

Hear about some of the site’s famous artists, musicians and writers that rest here such as Edith Piaf, Molière, Chopin, Proust, Delacroix, Jim Morrison and Oscar Wilde. Wander through the labyrinth of graves and along stony paths to visit tombs accented in eccentricity and distinction. As you experience the haunting magnificence of the cemetery, you’ll learn tragic histories of lovers like Heloïse and Abelard – united in a single tomb in the 1817 after centuries apart – and forward-thinking women like writers Gertrude Stein and Collette. Your 2-hour tour concludes at Porte du Rèpos near the Philippe Auguste metro stop.

Becky was absolutely fantastic as our tour guide of Père Lachaise. We are so grateful for her wonderful stories behind many of the famous people who have been laid to rest there, and for her personable nature.

Becky was very knowledgeable and helpful. She took extra time and answered all our questions. She clearly has a personal love of Pere Lachaise and sharing her experiences and stories.

Père-Lachaise has been on our list of must-visit places for a while. Found the meeting point without too much trouble and just in time despite the infamous Parisian traffic. Always leave earlier than you think necessary here! The tour was at a gentle walking pace throughout and Kritika our guide was highly personable and knowledgeable. We would highly recommend this tour to get away from the bustle of the city - and to learn inter alia why some leave potatoes on one grave and defy plastic barricades for the sake of their fertility on another! The Panthéon is not too far away from here by taxi so you could consider combining the two visits on the same day (as we did successfully).

This small group intimate walk through the world’s most famous cemetery with Becky is very touching indeed. Becky is a superb engaging raconteur who is always eager to learn more. I’m coming back with my son soon but please could you add Marcel Marceau and JRD Tata po favor? Merci beaucoup Jen ne pas parles francais.
