The guide did not show up and La Vacanza Travel still refused to give me a refund. I ended up paying more money at the Eiffel Tower to go up to the summit. You don’t need to book this tour.

We really enjoyed this guided visit. We easily found the address where this tour begins - it's quite near the tower. Marteen (Martin?) was a fantastic guide with lots of interesting information about the tower and history of Paris. His English was better than that of 50% of Americans - no difficulty understanding him and he was very pleasant. The breakfast croissant, madeleine, fresh juice and a hot beverage was perfect to get us going! The check in was quite easy. Our guide took us up the tower and pointed out the sites of the city below from different sides of the tower. It was a good way to get oriented. We only stood in a security line. The tour is early so I feel it helps avoid some of the crowds. While you could go on your own, the information provided by the guide is very helpful and adds to the visit. I recommend this tour.

We purchased the tour mainly to secure access to the Summit of Eiffel Tower. It turned out we could have bought the ticket onsite at 9 am (not available on line), the time of tour, as the line was short. There was no benefit of skipping the line so we really did not get much out of it.

When I saw some of the early reviews for this trip I was slightly reluctant to book it. After all, there is no skip-the-line which is reflected on the price, which for two adults and one child was about 50 euros cheaper than some of the other options. With so many of the alternatives being sold out by the time I came around to book I opted for this one just because it meant someone would do the organising for us, and to be honest we are very glad we did. The coffee was serve yourself straight from a machine at the back of the History Group office and the croissant was plain, but we were there for just a few minutes, leaving the office promptly at 8.30am with tour guide Linda (if you really need your coffee I would recommend turning up 10-15 minutes early, which it doesn't say on the ticket). We followed Linda on a leisurely walk to the tower and joined a short queue for 'invited guests', entering pretty swiftly. There are a couple of security checkpoints then we joined a line for tickets as the tower didn't open until 9. It all went very quickly though, Linda got our tickets from the office and distributed them then took us by lift to the second floor where she gave a fascinating, in-depth talk about the landmark, pointing out major places of interest from the second floor balcony. She really knows her stuff! After that, having purchased the summit option, we went right to the very top for the most amazing views of Paris, though once again there were fairly long queues for the elevators. To be fair there is more at the tower than you can possibly believe from looking at its structure: plenty of cafes, a restaurant, gift shops, a small cinema and toilets on every floor, it really is a bucket-list experience. Yes, I guess we could have taken our chances and queued with the general public without pre-booking through the history group and it might have saved us money but you would not only miss out on an informative and insightful talk from an experienced guide (she even pointed out where a zipwire had once been installed from the second floor to outside the Military School which looked petrifying!) but I am not sure on busy days you wouldn't be hanging about for a very long time. As a group we were looked after well and it was altogether a smoothly run trip. I was almost put off by a review of this trip but can honestly say I was happy to let History Group take the strain and to ensure we were able to enjoy a relatively hassle-free lifetime experience. One moan: We were promised a handcrafted map of Paris that never materialised.

Advertised to us as a skip the line with an expectation that we were paying to go to the top, turned out we waited in the same lines as everyone else, were not able to go to the top. Spent about $150 for nothing.
