Overview

This private tour of the Cotswolds takes in the best of the North Cotswolds stopping at many of the places you would wish to see if you only have one day in the area. Leave all the planning to us and tour the area with a local driver-guide in and executive vehicle.

We use quiet country lanes and pass through stunning countryside and off-the-beaten track Cotswold villages. On a typical tour you will visit towns such as Broadway, Chipping Campden, Stow-on-the-Wold, Bourton-on-the-Water as well as less touristed spots such as Snowshill and Upper and Lower Slaughter.

There is the option to visit one of the many gardens or manor houses in the area and to take a lunch in a traditional pub or afternoon tea in a tearoom. All tours are private and full bespoke so we are happy to tailor the day to suit your individual needs or preferences.

Beat the crowds and enjoy the beauty of the Cotswolds on a private tour.

This trip to the Cotswolds was on my wife's bucket list for her 60th birthday! We arranged an 8-person tour for our family ranging in age from 7 through 65. We discovered Jamie, who had an outstanding way of communicating with us, and assured us our trip was perfect. We took the train from London's Paddington Station and arrived in Moreton-in-Marsh at about 10:00 am on what turned out to be a heavenly day. Jamie promptly escorted us to the local market where we could refresh and grab some snacks for the excursion. We ventured across Batsford, Broad Camden, and Chipping Camden where we saw a mixture of thatch-roofed houses and grand estates and toured the Tower at Broadway - the viewing tower is the highest point in the Cotswolds offering wonderful panoramic views! We stopped at a local lavender field where the blooms were just starting to open. We made our way to Snowshill where there were stately homes, quaint cottages, a lovely country pub that dates back to 1865, and St. Barnabas Church - constructed about 1850. We stopped for lunch at the Swan Inn, a lovely spot in the village of Broadway which dates back to the 1500's as a stage coach stop. Jamie inspired our lunch and shared some insights about the village and we then spent some time leisurely strolling about High Street stopping in the many shops. Off to Upper Slaughter where we happened upon some locals who were enjoying a cooling dip in the River Eye which travels through Lower Slaughter. Both the Upper and Lower Slaughter are quaint villages with beautiful touches of history. Jamie provided wonderful insight on the area and we were able to get to know him and a bit about his family a little better. On to Bourton-on-the-Water where we enjoyed some ice cream and shopping along a village that straddles the River Windrush with its five arched-stone bridges. The buildings and structures have an amazing honey-colored stone hue in their architecture. From there it was a short drive to Stow-on-the-Wold where we strolled through the small market town and spotted the oldest English inn - The Porch House from A.D. 946. We even visited St. Edward's Church where two ancient yew trees stand at attention at the church doors which is said to have inspired J.R.R. Tolkien in The Lord of the Rings! Jamie was an empathic man who shared what he loved - the quintessential Cotswolds! We relished the seven hours of exploring the Cotswolds with him as our shepherd as he guided us through a thousand years of wonders. My family LOVED every moment of that day. Enjoy the private tour of Cotswolds Adventures!!!

We met our guide, Mike, at Morton-in-Marsh train station and he spent the day showing us the villages we requested and some that he thought we’d like. It rained pretty bad at Stow-on-the-Wold so we couldn’t get out and walk around but Mike took us to a nearby old church instead which was great! Definitely worth it if you have a day free. Easy train ride from London. Would do it again for sure.

We had a wonderful time exploring Cotswolds with Mike .We drove through many of the villages and stopped over at a couple of them like Chipping Camden, Burton on the water, and Broadway tower and Broadway along with one of the smaller village near by. Mike was flexible and gave us more time at stopover when asked. Cotswolds was really beautiful and loved having an informative guide with us. It also avoided us from getting our own car and driving down and finding parking etc especially as we hit the area during an Easter weekend. My only feedback would be it would be nice to fix a few places and spend more time in those 2-3 villages. But I highly recommend this tour for anyone looking for a private experience of Cotswolds.

I booked this tour my proposal and could not be happier with how it went! The day started with Jamie picking us up from Cheltenham Spa train station and driving us to Broadway. It was a quaint town and Jamie shared lots of knowledge along the way as well as making us feel comfortable. We then went through Snowshill and then to Broadway Tower where Jamie was more than happy to take photos for us on such a special occasion. He gave us lots of suggestions for picturesque places to have photos taken and we were spoilt for choice in this area. We finished the day in The Slaughters and Bourton-on-the-Water and it was nice to have a look around the towns and take in the sights and fresh air. Jamie was an amazing tour guide with a high level of knowledge about the areas. The day had a nice balance of being driven as well as us walking around which Jamie was able to tailor to depending on what we wanted to get from the day. I highly recommend this tour (which can be made bespoke as I had it) and I would love to visit the other side of Cotswolds at some point.
