Located an hour from Melbourne and known internationally as a quality producer of chardonnay, pinot noir and sparkling wines, the Yarra Valley enjoys the highest profile of any Victorian wine region. With this small group tour, take the scenic route from Melbourne that travels through bushland, vineyards and farmland. The 5 cellar doors that are visited are a mix of small, medium and large producers who provide a great overview of what the Valley does best.

What Can You Expect?

Stop At: De Bortoli Winery, 58 Pinnacle Lane Dixons Creek, Dixons Creek, Yarra Glen, Victoria 3775 Australia

Set on more than 450 acres of vineyard clad hills, the visit to the De Bortoli Vineyard is a terrific start to the day. The wine tasting includes their estate and premium wines together with their iconic dessert wine, Noble One. The tasting is enhanced with a pairing of selected cheeses.

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour in the Yarra Valley with Cam, who picked us up from Melbourne city centre exactly on time and drove us safely around the various wineries. The wineries we visited were excellent and a lot of thought has clearly gone into ensuring guests visit a varied selection of them, from the well known, established wineries to the smaller, experiential ones. Our lunch at Yering was very good and the cheese tasting at De Bortoli was excellent. The wine we tasted was of a very good standard. We would not hesitate to recommend this company to others.

Booked this last minute, to go with a friend from Melbourne to the Yarra Valley for wine tastings and lunch. Our guide Cam picked us up right by our hotel, in a clean minivan, there were 9 people in total on the trip. First winery we went to was lovely, with a cheese pairing, lunch at the second was excellent, although it is only one course. Other three wineries were lovely, with Cam adding useful pieces of information along the way. All in I think we sampled in excess of 35 wines, which makes for a great day out, before Cam dropped us all back off in the city.

We had a brilliant day with a small group tour led by Paul. The range of wineries and the staff were exceptional. The quality of wine and food exceeded our expectations. I recommend this tour.

We had a great day in the Yarra Valley with Paul. Booking was quite quick and easy. Email communications prior to the tour were appropriate in number and helpful. He arrived on time for our tour and the van was clean and obviously well maintained. Paul was very gregarious (seems most Aussies are…) and gave us commentary on everything from wine to politics to day-to-day life in and around Melbourne. Also offered really helpful recommendations for things to do during the remainder of our trip which we did and thoroughly enjoyed. The wineries we toured were well chosen, varied, and offered very tasty wines. Paul is obviously well known and respected at these wineries which made our small group sort of “VIP’s”. Overall, we have travelled extensively and I suppose we’ve had more enjoyable days on vacation but it’s hard to remember any right now. 😁 The only drawback was a slight headache the next morning but I expect that was solely me enjoying the tour a bit too much and not keeping up with my water intake. We can recommend the Vinetrekker’s tour without reservation. If you drink wine or if you’re just interested in wine, do it!!
