You travel to York and learn about an ancient Viking city. You try out Britain’s most famous cakes and cheeses. You venture through the legends of Robin Hood. And you roll over the green and scenic valleys of the Peak District.

My friend and I really enjoyed our short tour of Yorkshire with Rabbie’s! Because it was a small group we could adjust our schedule based on weather and people’s preferences. Our knowledgeable tour guide (Adam) knew the area and local history very well. We got to see a lot of the beautiful countryside taking the back roads. We are planning to use Rabbie’s again. Strongly recommend.

This is a very difficult decision, since every moment of this tour was excellent. From spending your own time at and around the B&B to viewing the scenic landscape from the edge of a high cliff. Personal, my favourite place is Whitby, since I am a lover of the seaside.

We had a lovely time with our guide Darren and our driver Mark, who were both good spirited and delightful people. Darren consistently supplied us with useful knowledge and interesting anecdotes about the places we visited, also answering all our questions with interest and a smile. We were also delighted that he had made a playlist with songs from the Yorkshire area, which made the ride itself more enjoyable – and memorable. Yorkshire is rightfully known as “God’s own country” because of its beautiful dales, moors and architecture. Our personal highlights were the visit to the opulent Chatsworth house (the estate of the Duke of Devonshire) and the majestic Fountains Abbey (the ruins of a 12th Century abbey in North Yorkshire). The city of York was also a joy to visit, with its impressive cathedral and surprisingly vivid nightlife. Not to mention all the small beautiful villages we stopped in, some of which had sheep roaming freely in the streets! Looking back, it is funny to think that the lack of reviews almost put us off this trip (we later learned that Rabbie’s only recently began operating in the Manchester area, and that this particular tour only started in June 2019). We gave it a go as we had time to kill during a longer trip to Manchester, and because the other Rabbie’s tours were given good scores. And we couldn’t have been more happy! Our only caveat is that the departure place was a bit hard to find – you have to go to the back of Manchester Piccadilly, to the street called Store Street. Except for this, the trip itself was a joy from beginning to end!
