Overview

Master your turns on the slopes of the Bernese Oberland on this 10-hour Swiss ski experience from Lucerne. Head into the Bernese Oberland’s Jungfrau region, and gaze over rural Switzerland’s rolling hills and soaring peaks. Listen as your guide details the region’s history and heritage. On arrival in the ski resort of Grindelwald, pick up your skis and safety equipment. Then, head to the Bodmi beginners’ ski area with your instructor and master the basics on the snow (group size of skiing lesson max. 8 participants). Afterward, enjoy free time to explore the cafes and shops of Grindelwald.

What Can You Expect?

Itinerary

Master your first turns on the snow in Switzerland’s Jungfrau region.
Meet your tour guide in the meeting point in Lucerne and start the panoramic drive to the stunning Bernese Oberland. Make a stop in the famous village of Interlaken for around 30 minutes to stretch the legs and grab a drink/snack. Continue the journey to Grindelwald where you farewell your tour guide and meet the certified ski instructor.
Collect your ski kit at the hire shop on arrival, then head to the Bodmi beginners’ area with a qualified instructor. During your 2.5-hour class (max. 8 participants), master the correct ski technique and enjoy making your first linked turns on the snow.
After the course, make your way back to Grindelwald and enjoy the remaining time to explore the village. Treat yourself with a warm drink before meeting your tour guide in the late afternoon to return back to Lucerne.

Very little snow; they really should have canceled this trip. The transfer from the bus to the ski shop was disorganized. As a result, we opted to just enjoy the gondolas and scenery. That was really nice. I’d recommend checking whether there is snow if that’s possible.

La Vacanza Travel should be listing this experience separately. The transport operator and the ski lesson operator are completely disjoint and as such I will be breaking down my review into 2 parts (a) transport operator and (b) the ski lesson operator: a) This is poorly executed poorly as the tour operator not only lumped travellers from Lucerne and Zurich together, with varying tour experiences (some are going to Jungfraujoch, others are Interlaken/Grindelwald day trippers). From our pick-up in Lucerne to Grindelwald, it took us exactly 2.5 hrs to reach Grindelwald. This is the same duration as you would if you take a train from Lucerne > Interlaken > Grindelwald. The bus journey could have just taken 1.5 hr, but the tour operator decides there is a need to take a 1-hour break in Interlaken and we are asked to explore Interlaken. For the return trip, the ski lesson travellers are required to report back to the bus at 4.30pm, as the bus needs to detour to Lauterbrunnen to pick up Jungfraujoch visitors, followed by Interlaken to pick up those Interlaken/Grindelwald day trippers. As such, this is another 2.5 hrs for the return journey as I reached Lucerne just past 7pm. b) As mentioned earlier, the ski lesson is completely disjoint from the transport operator. Upon reaching Grindelwald, we were supposed to report to the ski lesson operators on our own to pick up the ski equipment etc. This is similar to those who reported to the operators on their own. Although each instructor is limited to 8 students, IMO it still feels like too many and instructors simply don't have enough time to attend to all 8 students. It sounded like a privilege when I first booked the package, but after going through it feels too many. Perhaps limiting to 4 students would be better.

This was the highlight of my holiday , from the pick up in Lucerne , from a very experienced guides, driver and mainly our trainers for the skiing Jessica and Joseph hope got his name right.. they made our experience memorable with my kids.
