Our excursion will include a visit to the Buffalo Trace distillery, which was founded in 1775 by the brothers Hancock and Willis Lee. The Trace tour will be taken at the distillery, and if the distillery has availability, the Old Taylor tour can be done

Stop At: Four Roses Bourbon - Warehouse and Bottling Facility, 624 Lotus Rd, Coxs Creek, KY 40013-8813

A unique Spanish-style architecture distinguishes the distillery, which has been in existence since 1888. Small Batch and Single Barrel bourbons are produced inside. We will visit the distillery or warehouse for the Bourbon Tour and/or Taste of History/Guided barrel tour, depending on availability. Making a reservation in advance is recommended.

Kentucky's Woodford Reserve Bourbon is a National Historic Landmark created in 1812 and located in Kentucky's Bluegrass Region. Depending on availability, we will visit the distillery located more than an hour from Louisville for the Path to Flavor tour or sensory for the senses tasting. It is recommended that you make your reservation in advance.

Buffalo Trace was great tour, would highly recommend it. Our driver Juan was great, very good driver and very helpful getting us in and out of where we needed to be!

Where to start: I asked questions about my first round of tickets because the general listing of this company’s tour was lacking (how do I pick which ones I go to, etc)- the person who I was talking to then cancelled my tickets all together! (Jokes on them cause I used the 15% discount from the first booking to book the same one again). Then on the day of the tour, our tour guide was 15 minutes late to pick us up at the time and place THEY arrange. Should have been my first clue as to how the day was going to go. But then it just got worse- the driver was absolutely terrible! He could not stay in the lines on the road for more than 2-3 minutes and was consistently doing at LEAST 30mph over the speed limit. Then he kept parking in places at the distilleries we just could not get in or out of the van! The only thing that saved the day was the actual distilleries themselves. One of the tours we were going to go on was at Buffalo Trace- the itinerary said it was a tour and tasting, when we got there though, the company booked us for the Botanical Tour and not a Distillery tour! Luckily the people at Buffalo Trace are way better at there jobs than they are at La Vacanza Travel because that was the only thing that saved the day. We also almost missed the opportunity to dip our own bottles at Maker’s Mark because no one communicated to us we were supposed to go to the gift shop before the tour started because we “had to get to the next place quickly to stick to the schedule and wouldn’t have time for the gift shop at the end.” We even missed our entire lunch slot because of how poorly this whole ordeal was mismanaged. The driver tried to make it up to us by going to Jeptha Creek saying it was a restaurant where we could eat? They had 3 pizza styles and corn nuts. It was basically a concession stand. Overall- if you’re just looking for an erratic ride to tours you may or may not get to go on, book your trip here. If you want an actually decent tour? Book somewhere- anywhere else!
