Stop At: The British Museum, Great Russell Street, London WC1B 3DG England

Trade in paintings for mummies and historical artifacts on a tour of the British Museum. The enormous collection spans 6000 years of human history, featuring items from all over the world including Samurai armor and rare Assyrian lion hunt reliefs. Our guides will take a serious but enjoyable approach towards the museum’s galleries, discussing primitive tribes and fallen empires through a carefully chosen selection of items. You’ll learn about the Mummy of Katebet, the Lewis Chessmen, and the Rosetta Stone – the actual rock, not the language learning program. Walk away with an understanding of what we humans have achieved during our short history and hopefully you’ll be proud to call yourself a part of this incredible species.

Tony, our guide, was an absolute wealth of knowledge and made the background story of each exhibit interesting and entertaining. He gave us great bits of trivia which really led to a better understanding of each exhibit.

I can't imagine a first tour of the museum without a guide like Tony Matthews. His knowledge of the exhibits, of the history, and his ability to relate them to how people actually lived during those times made for a fascinating tour. I highly recommend Tony to anyone who'd wish to make the most of their experience at the British Museum!

The British Museum explained at an easy pace by an expert, Kathy, who has been going to the Museum since age 4. She could roll off historical figures and names as easy as casual conversation, and was delightful in answering all our questions. She is actually the best guide I have experienced in 20 years of travel to all continents!
