Overview

The British Music Experience tells the story of British Music through costumes, instruments, performance, and memorabilia from the Beatles and Bowie to Adele, and Oasis.

Included in general admission is Frankie Say 1984! No band has ever dominated a year like Frankie Goes To Hollywood (Official) in 1984. Born out of Liverpool’s post-punk scene with a brash, mischievous, ‘do what you want’ attitude - Frankie were a one-off. With their first three singles all going to No.1 – a feat previously only achieved by fellow Liverpudlians, Gerry, and the Pacemakers – they dominated the charts and the airwaves.

We're celebrating Frankie’s enormous contribution to British popular music in their home city of Liverpool through a temporary exhibition of some iconic Frankie Goes To Hollywood stage outfits, instruments, memorabilia and a collection of retro “Frankie Say” merch. With a focus on their meteoric success in 1984 and the political landscape of that year.

Tremendous value for money-so much to see and your ticket means as many repeat visits as you like for 12 months

Thoroughly enjoyed the exhibition but thought it overpriced for what was on offer. It was a great nostalgia trip through the ages of British music but didnt quite cover it all, I saw no mention of Jimmy Summerville, Bronski Beat, Communards for example, nor was ska covered particularly well. I also understand it was a tribute to British artists, but a lot of overseas musicians influenced the UK scene & should have at least had a mention

Although this museum was quite interesting and the interactive aspects were ok, I was extremely disappointed at how very little of the Black contribution to British music was given proper prominence. It was as if black artists were rendered invisible, which is a real disgrace and hurtful. Please improve this asap. You have charitable status but have alienated an important part of the community.

We visited here on a Wednesday afternoon, having pre booked through La Vacanza Travel who offered free cancellation up until two days before our visit, at no extra charge. Given the current climate, that’s obviously a big consideration. When you go in, the first thought is it’s really small, but that’s deceiving from the point of view of what there is to see. We ended up being there for around two and a half hours. If you like your music, you will absolutely love this. You get taken from the 50s to current times, in detail, showing you how music has evolved. We all loved it, and would definitely recommend a visit. Great value for money, and great, friendly staff.

Loved the music museum brought back memories of our younger days of growing up in the 50s and 60s 🙂
