Overview

Bali’s street food is fresh, fast, cheap, and a great way to crack into the local scene. Join this Bali tour to go behind the tourist areas to where the locals eat: on local ‘Eat Street!’ We’ll stop at a secret warung that only operates at night in a car park with the freshest food, wok to plate, as they say, a roadside café specializing in Bali’s most famous dish, and finish it up with every Indonesian’s favorite dessert cooked on open coals. Hungry yet?!

Itinerary
This is a typical itinerary for this product

Stop At: Seminyak, Seminyak, Kuta District, Bali

In Bali, the villages all have nightly food markets where locals go when the sun goes down. In Seminyak and beyond, locals head out with their family and friends to local ‘Eat Street,’ and on this Bali food tour, we’re joining them at all their favorite spots!

Your private food journey starts at a local food market, where where your guide will take you in and out of the small alleyways highlighting some of the foods you will taste later on Eat Street.

Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Eat Street, Jl. Laksamana Basangkasa/ Jl. Oberoi, Seminyak 80361 Indonesia

Then will visit a warung (café) famous for its babi guling (rotisserie-cooked suckling pig). Your guide will order for you a shared dish for two people and explain all that appears on the plate before you — which will have maybe five or six different elements. Don’t forget to buy some pork crackling!

From there, we drive to a local Eat Street in Bali, tucked just behind the major tourist area and easy to get to — but oh-so local! We’ll start at the top of the street, where your expert guide will escort you through the numerous small warungs and stalls, picking out things for us to eat as we go.

We thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Our driver was on the spot for every food shop, and our food tour queen ensured all of our food samples got to us in a timely manner. Pack your appetites as we expected sample portions and each stop was a full meal! It was a Great way to sample different Balinese foods so that you are familiar with some of the things that you may order while you are visiting. The coolest part was that we rode in an old Volkswagen bus, complete with an integrated cooler, charging station, and wifi.

We took this tour back in May with our friendly and knowledgeable guide I Made Susrama. Authentic local food in places we wouldn't have experienced otherwise and as we were the only 2 on the tour that evening, lots of opportunity to ask questions and learn about the Balinese way of life.

We had a wonderful food tour with Wira. We visited various local markets and businesses, got to try a wide variety of delicious local/Indonesian dishes and ate to our heart’s content. Wira was very personable and we enjoyed pleasant conversation all evening long. We learned so much from him as he was very knowledgeable about local customs and history. Thanks again Wira for a very memorable experience. Highly recommend Wira and this food tour!

Before you book, Please be aware that you will be eating where the locals eat at those little places that we walk past as the average tourist. If you are expecting to eat in five star restaurants this is not for you but you will be the one that is missing out. The trip to the pickup point is a bit of a journey but it's wonderful to see the difference going from Legian to Seminyak out past Kerobokan to the shipping containers and the kombi van. The tour itself is an experience and a half - a beautifully converted 1980 VW kombi with sound system, led lights , air con and the most awesome Esky ever. The guide and driver make the package perfect - friendly and knowledgeable . First stop for babi gulang at a place where the locals eat and was doing a bustling trade the night we were there if you're not into chili let them know as it can be a bit of a kick. Next with this was the chicken soup that left hubby raving so I know it was good! The restaurant is far from "perfect" with a dirt floorand a visiting cat.. but the flavors are insane . Just remember you are eating where the locals eat ...not something that's going for Michelin stars but the food is deserving of it. I won't say too much about dessert apart from the fact that it is the most amazing explosion of flavors ever and the first thing I did was look up a recipe for it. I don't think I'll be able to make up with the same authenticity that we had- but i am sure going to try. I saw Bali with new eyes and my taste buds loved it Highly recommend
