A great experience from the reservation process with Emine Filiz to the great tour of Istanbul with Ugur our guide who has a wealth of knowledge and is very accommodating. Just a great experience to book with Elefante travel which I recommend highly!!

We just returned from our afternoon tour with Iskander and we were blown away by the professionalism, knowledge and approachability he offered us. We’ve done a lot of guided tours over the last few years and this is one of the top experiences we’ve ever had. Iskander met us at our hotel and accompanied us to the old town, which was a nice touch since we didn’t have to worry about navigating there ourselves. He was so easy to talk to and wowed us with his knowledge of history and architecture. The tour has several important stops and all within walking distance. He timed the visits well around prayer times and the “skip the line” at key locations was great. We are so happy we chose this tour because we went to some places we otherwise would not have and were blown away by them (ie the grand bazaar and the Basilica cistern). Iskander was also accommodating to our needs- checking in often and making stops if we were hungry. He also took us to a phenomenal baklava place as a quick rest stop. We also appreciated that there was ZERO pressure to stop in the bazaar shops to buy things, as well as the offer for extra alone time to explore places if we wanted. We left the tour so happy and felt like we made a friend. Highly recommended this tour and if you can request Iskander you will not be disappointed!!!!

This was a lovely private tour, our guide was Iskender. He was very knowledgeable about the history of all the sites we visited and very patient. He saw that we were getting tired and found us a nice Baklava place to eat and rest. The tour was very flexible and we had plenty of time to see all the sites, he met us in our hotel lobby and took us on the tour which was a nice touch. It was an absolute pleasure to have him as a guide, it felt as if he was an old friend you’re visiting.

We booked 2 half day tours and had Nurten as our guide. Nurten met us at our hotel both days. The first day we went to Haghia Sophia, The Blue Mosque (Sultanahmet Camii), Basilica Cistern, The Grand Bazaar and the Hippodrome area. We found it very helpful hearing about the history and culture of the various locations. Nurten also suggested a lovely cafe for a break partway through the tour for Salep, baklava and Turkish delight which we all really enjoyed. She also showed us to a rug shop (as we had requested) which was very interesting. The children were able to do a knot each on a silk rug that was being made. As our children were a bit too tired we didn’t do the full Grand Bazaar tour but am sure this would have been excellent. The second day we first went to Topkapi Palace. This was amazing and very helpful to have Nurten’s guidance as without it we would have missed quite a lot of the important and interesting parts. She also answered our daughter’s questions very well. We then went to the Spice Bazaar (Egyptian Bazaar) along with the mosque just next to the bazaar. It was very crowded in the alley adjacent to the Spice Bazaar and a bit difficult to get through, but within the Bazaar we enjoyed tasting some Turkish delight and nuts. Definitely very useful having Nurten for this. The mosque was also beautiful. We all found the tour very interesting and found Nurten to be an excellent guide - very helpful and accommodating and generous with her time and looked after us all very well.
