Topkapi Palace was the center of power in the Ottoman Empire and was built in the 15th century by Sultan Mehmed II. Literally translated as “Cannon Gate Palace”, it was initially called the New Palace until the 19th century. Upon the fall of the Ottoman Empire in 1923, the Palace is now a museum that houses the grandest knowledge bank and memoirs of Ottoman glory.
