Overview

This ticket will get you straight to the Mt First from Grindelwald with the First cableway from the valley station in the upper village centre. Your journey will take about 25 minutes while you have outstanding views. Small group extended to a maximum of 15 travelers.

You gently float up to First in the security of the gondola. On the sunny side of the Grindelwald Valley the aerial cableway leads from the glacier village of Grindelwald to First at 2168 m above sea level.

The wide variety and exciting attractions found in this region include the First Cliff Walk by Tissot and the hike to the Lake Bachalpsee, which is known as the pearl of mountain lakes.

First Flyer, First Glider, scooter-bike rides, First Mountain Cart are also fun activities to purchase and enjoy when on top! You simply cannot plan adventure. You find one. On First that is a certainty.

The overall views were amazing! Definitely recommend for that purpose. However, one of the staff members was very rude! He was yelling at people as we were going on the cable car to leave. We were leaving around 4:00 pm on 04/14/24, and his job was to help organize people waiting to get on the cable cars to leave. He was making comments towards people and screamed at my sister for not getting on the cable car with another person although we were a group of 3 and needed enough space for us. This was a very disappointing part of the experience as we traveled from the US to visit Switzerland and enjoy the experience. This is not a way to behave with tourists that come to support your industry and enjoy the beauty of your country.

PROS * Cable car network- one car every 20 seconds * It takes you all the way to the top * Good views develop along the way (especially at the start of the journey) CONS * It takes 25- 30 minutes to do that * The talstation is an uphill walk of at least 15 minutes from the Grindelwald train station (there is also a bus) * There are two intermediate stations, where other strangers might cram into your tiny cable car "I VISITED THIS PLACE"... ... in order to take the 30 year old to see the place. The journey was long but OK; I had done it at least three times previously WAS IT WORTH THE COST? It is covered by the Berner Oberland Pass WOULD "I VISIT THIS PLACE" AGAIN? If I were here again and wanted to take someone- sure. ADVICE * Be prepared for the half hour journey * Be prepared for others crowding into your small cable car at the intermediate stations * Sit facing backwards at the departure from Grindelwald- that will give you the best view of the humongous impressive mountains as you start your ascent

My family and I came to Grindewald specifically to visit First View. We bought tickets (68 CHF per person!) at 15:59 via ticket vending machine. No one warned us that it was too late to visit the mountain and First station would be closed at 16:30. Ascent to the First station takes 25 minutes. Therefore, when we arrived, the staff didn't allow us to visit it and forced us to return back. The cashier staff also said (in a very unfriendly manner) we couldn't get money back. Customer support also refers to their General Terms and Conditions (aka "we don't refund money", you can check other reviews with similar comments). What is the point of selling tickets at 15:59 if, considering the time it takes to board the funicular and climb to the top, people won't have the opportunity to enjoy the view from outside?

Great experience! My girlfriend and I had an incredible time exploring the mountain town and shops before taking the gondola to the peak where we enjoyed beautiful views. Only downside was an unfortunate weather day. Would recommend checking weather in advance for optimal conditions.
