Overview

Travelling on Victoria’s heritage-listed Great Ocean Road is one of the greatest road trips you can have in Australia. Our Great Ocean Road Private fully customizable tour features amazing scenery, stories and wildlife in a leisurely drive that will have you gasping at every turn.
This 244-kilometre-long stretch meanders through secret bays filled with rock pools, imposing sandstone cliffs, lush rain forests and deserted beaches. Dotted with quaint seaside towns, coastal walks and shipwreck stories makes this region immensely popular.
A highlight of the tour is visiting the Twelve Apostles, limestone karsts that rise majestically out of the water off the coast.
We have a fleet of 7-seater and 11-seater buses for your group and the price is for the driver/guide and vehicle, not per person.
The tour is fully customized and pick up is from your accommodation. We stop often and avoid the crowds, living up to our motto of ‘Let the others rush!’.

Stop At: Twelve Apostles, Great Ocean Rd & Booringa Rd, Princetown VIC 3269, Australia

An iconic view. Take your time to soak up the sight of the magnificent limestone sea stacks that rise from the Southern Ocean and form the official Twelve Apostles; currently there are eight Apostles left, the ninth having dramatically collapsed in July 2005.
These monoliths have been created by the constant erosion of limestone cliffs over 10-20 millions years ago; the stormy Southern Ocean and gusty winds have gradually eroded the softer limestone, forming caves in the cliffs, then arches, until rock stacks up to 45 metres high have been crafted, completely isolated from the shore. View the Twelves Apostles at sunset or sunrise (on our two-day tour) to see the changing colours from dark in the shadows to a brilliant sandy yellow in the full sun. Nature in all its glory.

Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Loch Ard Gorge, Great Ocean Road Port Campbell National Park, Victoria 3269 Australia

The Loch Ard Gorge is a favourite stop off point along the Great Ocean Road. The picturesque gorge is flanked by two yellow-washed cliff faces, a smooth bay and inlet of clear, blue water. Wander the trail down to the Gorge, take in the natural beauty and view the location of Australia’s most famous shipwreck - the Loch Ard - and hear its story of loss and survival. Loch Ard Gorge is the start of the Apostles from the opposite end, where you can also see the Razor Back and Honey Pots rock formations.

Duration: 20 minutes

John's company provides outstanding service and tours and I would highly recommend the Melbourne Touring Company. Michael was our tour guide and he was excellent, very knowledgeable and personalable.

EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT even when the weather was not cooperating. We got Wes, the BEST guide and driver of our trip. He was attentive, very communicative and takes great initiative all the time. My sister requires wheelchair access and throughout the stops, Wes was simply wonderful, stepping in whenever we found it difficult to manage, to the point where my mom trusted him enough to "let go" and have his assistance. Very very lovely trip we had, given the flexibility in a private tour. We managed to see the 12 Apostles without the usual hoards of crowd and the wild koala sightings! Everything was just perfect, honestly. Can't fault a thing. Please request for Wes! He's very very very patient, kind and really, just lovely. Thank you, John, for arranging everything.

We booked a private tour for ourselves as a couple and it was a magnificent decision as it really allowed us to customize the tour and spend more time in the places we enjoyed the most. Beyond the beauty of the scenic route, our guide Wes was a treasure trove of information, kept us well-entertained, put up with all of our questions and requests, and was just an all-around great guy and a charismatic story-teller. He certainly made our trip memorable and the value he added made it well worth it. He also met my girlfriend’s demanding photography standards and gave us loads of tips on where to eat, go, and even when it would be a good time to catch a nap as we drove along! As for the tour itself, we got an early start at 7 and our route (as advised by Wes) went counter clockwise and started off with a quick coffee before heading straight to the Apostles. That allowed us to have almost every stop we did to ourselves without any crowds or tour buses and by the time we got around to Apollo Bay for a quick lunch the tour buses were already gone and we again got plenty of space to ourselves. Along the route are some incredible natural formations, gorgeous forests, and plenty of cattle ranches, dairy farms, and quaint towns. We were lucky enough to spot a few kangaroo mobs, an Echidna, a Wallaby, and even a Koala! A truly memorable trip and we couldn’t be more grateful to the Melbourne Tour Company for accommodating us on a short notice; and Wes: You went above and beyond to ensure our day was absolutely memorable, we had an incredible time! Thank you a bunch from Michy and myself.
