Overview

The Sema ceremony represents the mystical journey of man's spiritual ascent through love and his search for truth and perfection. It is believed that once man has returned from his spiritual journey, he can love and be of service to all creatures surrounding him. Tonight, you have the opportunity to experience an authentic Pamukkale ceremony and witness an ancient Turkish ritual.

You will be collected from your accommodation in Pamukkale and transported by luxury air-conditioned transport to the Dervish house. These abodes were built when trade across Turkey in medieval Seljuk times was dependent on camel trains. The buildings provided accommodation for the merchants and stabling for their animals. Today these ancient structures are the site of The Sema.

The ceremony lasts for one hour and during this time your friendly and professional English-speaking guide will talk you through the ceremony and introduce you to Serbet, a traditional religious libation

What Can You Expect?

The whole ceremony takes around one hour and we offer 'Serbet', a religious drink, after the ceremony. Turkish Heritage Travel picks you up from your hotel in Pamukkale or other towns of Cappadocia half an hour earlier, which will give you enough time to see the parts of the caravanserai prior to ceremony.

The good: The show is very interesting, they receive you with a write down about the ceremony and it’s meaning. The venue is big enough and the staff was very nice, they picked us up on time at the hotel. What could improve: The show is done with neon lights that soon get very tired on the eyes, would be better with warm light. The facilities (like restrooms) could also improve. Overall is a nice insight of the culture

My wife was very keen to do this but I was less than enthusiastic...but it was a wonderful experience, seemingly enjoyed by all. I liked the fact it was not a 'show' but more of an insight. We paid 25 euros which felt to be too much as the hotel pick up was just a three minute walk.

È un posto spettacolare da vedere grazie alle bellezze naturali. Bellissimo il paese, consigliatissimo salire nel punto panoramico del paese anche se bisogna pagare una piccolissima cifra, soprattutto consigliato al tramonto. Il museo a cielo aperto nella periferia della città non mi ha fatto impazzire. Sicuramente la mongolfiera è una esperienza da fare assolutamente. I costi possono però essere molto alti, se volete risparmiare cercate quelle che volano non su Goreme ma sulle valli vicine.Magari è un pò meno spettacolare ma io ho pagato un terzo.

Lamentablemente muy lejos lo que ofrecen vs. Lo que entregan, la expectativa es de un servicio de recoger y regresar, en un auto limpio, cómodo y funcional, lo cual no sucede. El lugar es agradable, pero el show no ofrece música en vivo, pues tienes la expectativa de un show de $20 euros por persona, difícilmente un valor percibido de $5 euros por persona. Caro, por ende malo.
