Overview

Join us on a 90 minute guided tour of this Lincolnshire gem. We will deliver an entertaining and informative narration of the architecture, characters and legends of one of the finest stone towns in England. Stamford has preserved a multitude of Georgian buildings built on a medieval base with Tudor and Victorian interludes. The town has a vibrant history, much of which is still visible in the 600 listed buildings and monuments.

We are “The Mayor’s Guides”. Starting at the Town Hall, our tour of this ancient town will bring alive the story of Stamford with tales of Georgian elegance, dubious politics, tragic romance and much more! Afterwards, perhaps you can enjoy the many pubs, restaurants or independent shops that make Stamford such a great place to visit.

What a fabulous walking tour around Stamford!! We were a small group of four and Jim was our guide for the morning. He was so friendly, knowledgeable and really entertaining. We learned so much about the history and architecture in a fun packed couple of hours - we thoroughly enjoyed it. We would definitely recommend the tour to anyone visiting this lovely town.

Nichola's in depth knowledge of the town and her amusing tales of individual people and events. We would never have found out all this on our own . She is a very good ambassador for Stamford , a person you can warm to at first meeting.

What an amazing tour ! Our guide Nicky ( I think ) but the lady in pink was fantastic. So informative I don’t know how she kept so many interesting facts in her head! Her enthusiasm for and love of Stamford was infectious. I would thoroughly recommend.

A wonderful way to see Stamford. Bill, our guide, was knowledgeable, witty and friendly. The tour was well paced and the questions added another element.
