Had a private lesson with Glen to maximise personalised instruction. He was attentive and patient, but gave us the space to get on with it! We had first lesson in Summerleaze and the second at Widemouth - great to experience two different environments and wave conditions. I appreciated the phone call, moving our booking earlier to accommodate the tide conditions. Full wetsuit, hoods and gloves meant we didn't notice the cold water. We had an exhilarating, exhausting time, but all stood up several times, so were thrilled with our lesson. We'd definitely book with Freewave again.
This was a five star experience, but Tripadvisor would only let me enter four stars. Robin was an excellent instructor, very professional and nothing was too much trouble. All of the equipment was in top shape and the wetsuit kept me very warm. I was in a lesson with just one other person, the attention was excellent. Robin explained everything very clearly on land, with plenty of jokes thrown in to make us laugh. Once we were in the waves, I felt very safe and very well looked after. We were in the water for close to 2 hours, so I felt this was very good value for money. I will definitely be heading to Freewave again to surf and would highly recommend them to anybody who is interested. The location is also absolutely beautiful with stunning Cornish Clifftops and a delicious café nearby all in all an amazing experience for this first time, surfer of 58 years old, thank you, free wave and Robin! I received a voucher for Christmas for three surfing lessons with Freewave - what an amazing present! Booking was easy and (because it was out of peak season) Robin was really accommodating when I needed to move some dates around. The actual lessons were fantastic, small groups meant lots of attention and I went from no experience to standing in a single lesson. Subsequent lessons built on this learning, rather than using a ‘cookie cutter’ lesson format, enabling me to get better and better. I now have enough confidence to go and surf by myself. I would only say don’t do this if you don’t want to catch the surf bug! Overall an amazing experience.
Robin and Marco were amazing surf coaches! They have really clear instructions, helpful advice and kept us safe in some more challenging conditions. They were super friendly and kept things lighthearted and fun. We’ve had other surfing lessons before, and this has definitely been our best experience. If you’re looking for surf lessons at Widemouth Bay or the Bude area, these are the guys for you!
Not the fitest person so Marco had his work cut out for him! But he was super patient and really encouraging. Would reccomend to a friend! I’ll get fit and come back next year. ✅ VG!
