The Jane Austen Centre at 40 Gay Street is a permanent exhibition which tells the story of her Bath experience – the effect that visiting and living in the city had on her and her writing. The Circus is a historic street of large townhouses in the city of Bath, Somerset, England, forming a circle with three entrances. Designed by the prominent architect John Wood, the Elder, it was begun in 1754, completed in 1768, and is regarded as a preeminent example of Georgian architecture.
