This full-day tour of Beijing offers an in-depth look at Beijing’s rich cultural heritage. With a knowledgeable guide, you’ll tour the Great Wall at Mutianyu Section, visit the Summer Palace. Enjoy a Chinese lunch and comfortable round-trip minivan transport from your hotel. All entrance fees, cable car/toboggan round trip are included. Group size is limited to 12 people to ensure more personalized attention from your guide. Pick up and drop off including hotels within the 4th ring road of Beijing City.

This is a typical itinerary for this product

Stop At: Mutianyu Great Wall, Mutianyu Village, Bohai Town, Huairou District, Beijing China

You will be picked up from your hotel lobby at 8:00am and your guide will lead you to your private minivan and start the tour.

Drive about 1.5 hours to the Mutianyu Great Wall. The Mutianyu section of the Great Wall is a masterpiece of restoration, with 23 original-style watchtowers. Upon your arrival, you will have some time to discover this amazing creature by yourself! You will get on the Great Wall either by chair lift up and toboggan down from at tower 6 or cable car round trip at tower 14.

Stop At: Summer Palace (Yiheyuan), No.19 Xinjian Gongmen Road, Haidian District, Beijing 100080 China

After the hiking, it's time to have lunch in a local village for the authentic Chinese food. The sample dishes:

Gongbao Chicken

Local mushroom and pork

Onion pancakes

Muxu pork 

Sweet and Sour pork/chicken

Egg or soy sauce fried rice

Spicy beans

Board on the minivan again, and head to the Summer Palace. During the 1 hour drive, your English speaking guide will tell you more about the imperial palace before you visit there. The Summer Palace is the largest and best-preserved imperial garden and palace in China.

Your full-day tour concludes with a drop-off at your hotel in Beijing.

The trip with Lucy was amazing! We went to the Mutianyu Great Wall and summer palace. Lucy was so kind, thoughtful, considerate, and knowledgeable. She made the trip significantly more enjoyable and pleasant. This was a highlight of our China experience. I would highly recommend booking this tour and asking for Lucy! We also appreciated her flexibility with my friend and my changing requests as we saw new tourist attractions within the summer palace.

We recommend this tour especially in the early morning (7:00 a.m. from the hotel which will take only 45 min. to the great wall) in order to avoid the crowded tourists. Very nice scenery with a few tourists. The tour operator did the well organizing of the route, time, and the professional guide, Yan. We used the lift-chair to the great wall then walking, and climbing up to another wall section and finished our tour by taking the carriage like the slider without the queue, vey funny. For lunch included in the itinerary, we had it at the local restaurant with traditional tasting. During the afternoon, it’s the tour at the Summer Palace, recommend to take a boat to view the lake with extra expense, 100 yuan/adult. and get off at the residence area to explore in deep with the interesting history of this palace.

We booked a day trip to Mutianyu Great Wall and Summer Palace. Our guide Alice Ji is the best , friendly approachable and most informative! From the time she fetched us from hotel with a driver at 7.30am till we reached back at 6pm ...she was very knowledgeable in history telling us about different provinces and history of old ..answering our queries in good spoken English. She took many pics of us and collated into an album for us and showed us the different parts of the wall with full explanation..even took video of us toboganing down . Lunch was a good buffet spread with a good intro of jade carving factory and tea appreciation thrown in free. Summer palace was so full of history stories .. Thankful to Alice showing us around the many significant buildings.. I would have been lost just going around myself. Wonderful quiet but fast driver with a comfortable car .Recommended tour ..will definitely book Alice when I go back to Beijing. . we have become friends in WeChat!!

We had a wonderful experience with our tour guide Alice, who was amazing from start to finish. This was our first visit to China for our honeymoon, and Alice was so informative and helpful. Her storytelling made the tour so enjoyable. We found the history of the Great Wall fascinating and the architecture within the Summer Palace so beautiful. We would definitely book with Discover Beijing Tours when visiting in future.

Jack is a great tour guide. Very knowledgeable, considerate, flexible, good communicator, detailed-oriented and helpful. He conveyed good and insightful information before we arrive at point of location of interest. Lunch is great. I was expecting something simple and cheap such as the steam dumpling, but was served with FIVE very good and Beijing authentic dishes for lunch. Driver is also courteous and prepared bottled water for us. Value of this tour is GREAT. Overall, I would rate this tour as EXCELLENT and I rate this as 10 out of 10.
