Finally, stop for the Peking Duck dinner at a local restaurant. Peking Duck is originally from Beijing. It is prepared with a fruit tree, so it has a fruity flavor and its skin is very crispy. You also eat it in a very special way. First you need to use a special bread. Then, you can start your tasty meal.

The duck is divided into three parts and made in three different ways:

The first way is the most popular one. The meat is selected from the most flavorful part of the duck and is boned. Green onions and dressing are added to make it savory and a little sweet. It is served with thin crepes. You just spread the dressing on the crepe, add some green onions, and roll it up. The second way is to use the part of the duck with less meat. It can be fried with garlic, chilies, ginger or onions. The final and third way allows you to make use of the entire duck. You can make soup with cabbage and the duck meat with bones.

Getting a great tour guide can be a lottery but we struck it lucky with Beccy. Her warm and friendly personality combined with fantastic English put the whole family instantly at ease. The tour was great - from the crazy bartering experience of the Pearl Market (where Beccy taught us a great Chinese phrase to keep insistent stall holders at bay) through to a delicious duck dinner (where Beccy explained how to eat each of the dishes) to the grand finale of the KungFu show which had my 12 and 11 year old boys totally transfixed. Really worth doing and my big tip is insist on getting Beccy as your guide.

My 2.5-year old son enjoyed it very much! The Peking Duck dinner wasn't as ceremonious as I expected. I thought they'd show how they prepare it but instead our tour guide showed how they eat it at the table. Our tour guide Lucy was lovely! She was very sweet. While my husband and I was shopping at the Pearl Market, she offered to walk around with my son and played with him while we get our shopping done. Please ask for Lucy!

I had eaten a late lunch which kind of spoilt my dinner but the restaurant was nice and so was the food. Highlight of the night is the Kung Fu show. The pearl market is only interesting if you like shopping and bartering for a lower price.
