So pleased we booked this tour. Its a small group. Lots of fun learning about baths history and the food stops were great.
I first came across Anthea last year, where I overheard her chaperoning two visitors to Bath and made a mental note. Fast forward to this September 2022 and the visit to Bath of two old friends from the United States. I booked Ginger Bird Explores for a group of six people- our two visitors, four of us locals from Bath, plus one other guest who joined us. We did the Tour & Taste with Andrea and I can honestly say we all had an absolute blast. Two and a half hours of Bath culture interspersed with Anthea’s wicked sense of humour; our visitors were blown away by her knowledge and personality and she really helped us all to learn more about this beautiful city, even those of us who live locally. Our introduction to the independent traders was inspired and the tasting part of the tour went down particularly well. Anthea was also able to cater for one vegan in our group of 7, plus our Americans liking for Bridgerton! We now have several cafes to follow up in future visits. If you want a dry, straight-laced historical tour this is probably not for you; but if you want to get a feel for the real Bath, seeing the sights, hearing about the history and meeting some of the artisans who help to make Bath such a wonderful destination, I can thoroughly recommend Anthea aka gingerbirdexplores.com.
I took my family to Bath for the day as part of our holiday, and thought this would be an interesting way to learn about the city. We were definitely not disappointed!! Anthea clearly loves her home city! She's knowledgeable about Bath's history and has chosen some delicious artisan food for people to try on their tour. We explored some lovely places slightly off the beaten track. I took two teenage daughters (one veggie) and my parents in their 70s - we all absolutely loved it. This is without doubt the best tour of any city we've been on. Anthea was cheerful, patient and friendly and I can't recommend her tours highly enough.
We booked via AirBnB and stumbled across an absolute gem of a way to tour Bath! Anthea was knowledgeable, fun and really chilled out, a great combination for seeing a new city from a locals point of view. The tastings included in the tour were a nice mix of local delicacies and other items from independent outlets that we wouldn’t necessarily have got around to trying if left to our own devices. They must have been good as we went back to a few to stick up before heading home! Would recommend for all ages and group sizes, you’ll learn the history of Bath whilst snacking - what could be better?
I thoroughly enjoyed this tour - Anthea shared so many interesting pieces of information about Bath, and the food stops were all excellent. It's a great way to discover the city, and particularly to find the wonderful independent businesses and eating establishment whose wares are definitely worth trying!
