The original building dates back to the late 19th to early 20th centuries in a traditional Qatari architectural style. It was renovated in 2006.

The seafront Corniche Promenade has cycling and jogging lanes, and the area is noted for fine-dining restaurants and upscale hotels

Katara Cultural Village, also called Katara, is a cultural and commercial complex in Doha, Qatar, located on the eastern coast between West Bay and the Pearl. It was soft-opened in October 2010 during the Doha Tribeca Film Festival.
The complex comprises an open amphitheater, an opera house, a multi-purpose cinema, a multi-purpose conference hall, a beach (named Katara Beach), and a souq.

The Island in Doha, Qatar, is an artificial island with an area of nearly four square kilometers. It is the first land in Qatar to be available for freehold ownership by foreign nationals. As of 2018, there were 27,000 residents.
Residential development on the island is intended to incorporate various national and international themes, including aspects of Arabic, Mediterranean, and European culture. The Pearl Island is divided into 12 districts (also referred to as precincts), each of which has a distinct architectural style.

A “must do” for all visitors to Doha, enjoy a panoramic view of Doha city skyline on board a traditional wooden dhow, an Arab sailing vessel with one or more lateen sails. Sailing close to Safliya Island, guests can go swimming and sun tanning on the beach, simply dance on board or relax with a shisha (water pipe with flavored tobacco). Barbecue buffet meals are prepared and served on board.
