Things to Do in Shimla

Go for a walk.

Vehicles aren't allowed from the central part of town so you will really be forced to go on foot if you want to explore further. But with the nice weather, walking won't be such an unpleasant activity. Plus, going for a walk allows you take your time and really see the beauty of Shimla.

See some local animals.

If you want to know the local wildlife, head over to the zoo in Kufri. There you'll see some native species such as the Himalayan snow leopard or musk deer.

Go trekking.

If you're done walking the 7km long Mall, it's time to see the mountains. You may be in the mountains, but going to see other mountains allows you to explore and appreciate nature more. Popular destinations include the Annadale, The Glen, and Wildflower Hall.

Viceragal Lodge.

The former home of the British Viceroy of India contains articles and photographs concerning the British occupation of India.

The Ridge. This large open space is where a lot of cultural activities take place. Look for the statues of Mahatma Gandhi and Indira Gandhi while in this area. Don't miss Jakhoo Temple as well.
