The fort witnessed the fiery battle between the queen and her army that lasted for two weeks.

Today, you can still see the grandeur of this historical landmark that sits on over 15 acres of land and designed following North Indian architecture.

Rani Lakshmi Bai is known throughout India for her bravery after revolting against the British who forced her to retire after the death of her husband, King Gangadhar Rao.

The tomb of the king is located 2 kilometers away from Jhansi Fort and features two domed structures and a beautiful garden filled with flowers. This cenotaph is a great place to learn more about Jhansi’s history and pay respects to the king who worked towards enriching its culture through art and architecture.
